First off, sorry you have to get back to reality, keep drinking, maybe they will let you stay!? To be fair, it didnt work when I tried it either.

We sail next saturday. In the Domincan Republic, did you a ship excursion? Or did you wing it? I read about the bus the will take you to the old rebuilt historic site and was only $7pp, wondering if that was still running, and if anyone tried that? Also, how's all the side food? Not the MDR, Seaside bbq, steakhouse or italian but the Tandoor and Iguana and sushi, we are closet foodies, so we want to try all of it. And actaully, i am going to try to assemble some monster franken-burger creations.

Ok sorry for the delay- I am in the middle of fighting a nasty cold I got the last 2 days of the cruise. No fear- it is not norovirus!! Flying home and going to work today was no fun at all!!

I will get to all the food in a bit, but I will start from the beginning. Flew in to FLL from JFK on Friday 3/25. After a 3 hour delay, we landed in FLL at 10:30pm. We used LaBlanc Limo to get us from FLL to our hotel in Miami. They were great, so I figured I would give them a plug. After getting our bags and such, we arrived at the YVE Hotel around 11:45. I get to the desk to check in, and the rather rude douche desk manager says, " we have maintenance issues so we don't have a room for you!" Considering I prepaid for the room I was quite taken aback. "We booked you a room at the Hilton so if you want me to call a cab I will". WHAT??? So now my wife, the naturally combative attorney, asks to speak to the manager. This guy had the gall to say "yeah, ok" and disappeared for 10 mins. My wife hounded him when he got back and demanded to speak to the manager. The manager finally showed up and couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. He paid for the cab and told us to get a receipt for our cab to the port the next day. We never did but it was a nice gesture. So my advice is do not stay at YVE!!!

Embarkation- couldn't have been easier! We had 10:30 check in. We got to the port at 10:10- by the time we gave the porters the bags it was 10:20. We got to the line outside, showed them our boarding passes, and they sent us ahead. We were done with the check in process by 10:45, and on the ship by 11:30! Staggered check in seems to work very well.

Cabin- we were in cabin 6270 balcony cabin port side. Great room, and great room steward Nair. I read about people complaining about the Promenade being below deck 6 cabins, but we had no problems with privacy. It was actually good people watching!

Crowd- a great mix of people from all over the country! Being that it was spring break, there were 1200 kids on board. We knew this going in, and we also have a well behaved 12 y/o daughter. I stress well behaved because there was definitely a group of kids around 10-15 that were totally out of control! And, of course, the parents were nowhere to be found!!! There was one family whose kids decided to draw ON THE FLOOR during trivia in the Ocean Plaza- while the dad looked on and laughed!!! Very annoying!

Pools- sadly, yes, chair hogs were out in full force, and there was zero enforcement. Not that it affected us- my wife is up at the pool from 7-5 everyday, so we had our 2 chairs, but there were towels put out at 7- and the people didn't return until 11! The pools were very crowded- as to be expected- and there were a handful of idiot kids jumping in the crowded pools, almost hitting people. Again, no parents- and no pool security!

MDR- we had late seating in the Blush (aft) dining room. Our wait staff, led by Florin, was awesome!!! We were seated with 2 other families, each with one child as well. We got along great and had good dinner company all week. I will admit that it was weird the first night not seeing table cloths in the MDR! But we got used to it.

Food- I will break this down by where we ate. I never made it to the Bonzai Sushi or the Steakhouse.

MDR- food was great. No complaints about the American Table Menu at all. There was a big enough variety every night that we always found something. You can also order entrees from the Steakhouse for $20 in the MDR.

Guys Burgers- they were good the first day or so, but I was over them quickly. The meat is very good, but they soak the bun in butter! The lines were long when it first opened, but by 3 you could walk right up and grab one. Admittedly I am not a huge Guy Fierri fan, but I am just being honest.

Blue Iguana- my wife and daughter had tacos and burritos there, and they said the food was good. My daughter said they would have been better if they had beef tacos, but all they offer is pork, chicken, and fish.

Cucina del Capitan- we ate there for lunch one day. They have a pre printed menu that you fill out. They only offer pasta for lunch, but they offer a variety of sauces and add ins (sausage, chicken, mushrooms, etc). We enjoyed the lunch, but once was enough for the week.

Jimmy's BBQ- well, in one word- awful! I ate there once and was not impressed. The chicken was burned, the sausage had no flavor, and the pulled pork was dry. I think I also got a touch of food poisoning from the creamed corn. Probably should have avoided that on a hot day!

We were on the eight day cruise prior to you and i have to agree about the children, they were everywhere and no one was watching them. Made a mess of the ice cream and pizza and interrupted the movies, have cruised many a spring break and never had it so bad, no reason. It is a lovely ship, just a little too big for my taste.

Sandy- I didn't mention the ice cream machines and the kids. I avoided the ice cream machines after I saw kids using their fingers to pinch the ice cream off at the end. Ice cream all over the place- no parents of course! Besides, much better IC at the coffee bar- worth paying for!

As far as the size of the ship- it didn't bother me, and I rarely felt crowded. I still say the Miracle is my favorite ship!

Ports-

Grand Turk- just went to Margaritaville and hung out in the pool

San Juan- did some shopping in old SJ and went to a chocolate restaurant that was very good

St Kitts- went to the Marriott and enjoyed the beach and pool there. Great facility and nice beach but had a lot of seaweed

St Maarten- did the Americas Cup race- it was awesome!! I highly recommend it and would do it again in a heartbeat!

Staff- the cruise director and the entertainment staff were great! My daughter and I played a lot of trivia and cornhole and had a blast! Kudos to Jonathan- he was the best and I see him being a CD in the near future!!!

I'm reading! :D I appreciate you taking the time to post your review. I'll be on the Breeze in the fall. Not sure of an questions right now, though.

Oh, ice cream at th coffee bar? Is that something fleet wide or unique to the Breeze? Never heard of that.

Not OP but just read OP didn't have DR on itinerary. We were on Breeze a few weeks ago and did the $8 per person (round trip) bus to Altos de Chavon. Just walk right outside port and you will see kiosk where you pay and hop on bus. Very easy and safe and worth checking out. We only walked around about an hour but it was great to take pictures. It's not super exciting, but worth seeing, especially if you are looking for something cheap to do and/ or you were considering not getting off the ship. We were back on the ship by noon for lunch.
