Just off Carnival Breeze...disappointed

I also did not like the Breeze when my wife and I sailed on her in 2014. I know many people who post here think it's a great ship. I had no complaints with the food, but everything seem to be disorganized. We had a junior suite and it took us over an hour to get on board. There were always long lines of disgruntled cruisers at guest services When had a tour of Miami planned after the cruise. They put everyone who had a post-cruise excursion in the theater for it seemed like 2 hours. There were several guests who got in very heated shouting matches with the staff. They really seemed to not have a clue as what to do with us. When we finally got off the ship, so much time had elapsed that we were only able to take half of the planned excursion. From now on I will only cruise on a smaller ship.

Yes a negative review of a specific ship or lines is all it takes, there are to many options out there so I vote with my money. Besides, why did you read this thread?

Cheers, to many options!

Granted, there are a plethora of options to spend your vacation dollar. But you can look at Cruise Critic or on Trip Advisor and every single cruise or land based resort have negative and positive reviews. If you eliminate a possible cruise because of one negative review, then you had better get used to stay-cations, because there is no such thing as a 100% universally positive rated cruise ship or land based resort.

Dipstick, I'm booked on the Breeze and am now worried I should have chosen the magic. I hope my cruise will turn out ok. I want the food to be good and the food PORN to be better! Lol! Don't take me to the naughty room now..lol

Just got off of the Breeze on Sunday and loved almost everything about it. Was on the Breeze in September as well. Favorite ship in the fleet. Been on the Magic as well but prefer the Breeze. Have a great cruise!

The Breeze was rated the best in the fleet by many people and now that it has recently come out of dry dock, it now has an Alchemy Bar.

The Breeze was still under construction when the Alchemy Bar was placed in the Glory for a trial run and blue prints could not be changed. Because of the success of it, each subsequent dry dock and the recent build of the Vista have all included the Alchemy.

You had better get used to sailing on old ships because all of the new builds (34) by Carnival, Royal, Princess, Norwegian, Celebrity and MSC are all larger than the Breeze. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_cruise_ships

True.....but not all of the new builds....

Because the Breeze is my favorite ship, and I was curious what the OP had an issue with...that's why!

Good luck finding any cruise ship that does not have one negative review written by some faceless poster somewhere on the internet!

Name ONE new build by any of the mainstream lines that I mentioned that will be smaller than the Breeze. And if by some chance you do come up with one, it is dwarfed by the 34 new builds that are all larger than the Breeze. I have not heard of any new small builds (under 100 K tons).

None of the lines that you mentioned have any, that is why I said true. That said there are new builds out there under 100K (29 total that I count, including 2 for HAL which is certainly a mainstream line) which is why I clarified your post.

And I have to assume that the other 27 are all on boutique, higher end lines that only a very small percentage of people can afford to sail on. Granted, HAL is mainstream, but 34 over 100 k versus 2 under 100 k just goes to prove that all of the mainstream lines are betting on bigger equals better. Royal proved it with the behemoths of the seas and every other line has since followed suit.

I get your point and agree for the most part anyways. I was just making a correction in terms of the details of what you said.

Left the Carnival Sunshine. seems the higher end foods are quickly disappearing and replaced with much cheaper substitutes. I always looked forward to the Kadota figs in the morning on the cruise ship now there isn't one to be found! Last years spent a week at sea and never a fig just canned peaches and prunes. Lido deck not a big selection! Mush of the same food is reproduced just at a different location.

So sorry your cruise on the Breeze sank. Not sure if its a mental thing; but the chow in the MDR. seems fresher. I don't miss those larva barkers or burgers on Lido deck. Their smells reminded me of a K Mart cafeteria. However I'm an advocate of Guy' burgers expanding their hours. On the cabin steward issue; until service drops to once daily; communicate with him or her your preference for PM or AM service. Also take advantage of the hang tag that says: Cruisin (service cabin) or, Snoozin. Meaning is you know what's better 4 you stay out. If you cruise with another line please review.

I was on the Breeze the week before dry dock ( the week after the OP) and boy did I learn my lesson. I agree with everything the OP said except we had a very good room attendant. Service sucked!! Even on Elegant night it was 20 minutes before someone even came to our table. We ate every night except one in the MDR using My Time Dining and had very bad service although the food was good. Food pretty much everywhere else was not great but I certainly did not go hungry. I am not a picky eater. My complaint was the service. All over the ship. I think the crew had already checked out because of dry dock. I usually cruise RCCL but wanted to give Carnival a chance. Loved the ship but will I cruise them again. Maybe, maybe not.

Wow! In dry dock already? But the Breeze is only a few years old. What was done to her?
I had assumed she would be getting an Alchemy Bar since the blueprints were already locked into place when she was being built which was right after the Alchemy Bar opened to rave reviews on the Liberty. My assumption was indeed correct and the other additions are mentioned in this link. http://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=7782

I have to agree with op, generally the buffet food needs serious help and the scrambled eggs were not fit for consumption. We don't travel with them for their food. The saving grace was the awesome staff throughout the ship, that balanced everything, probably a main reason we enjoy Carnival so much.
