mrsbojamp Posted April 30, 2016 #53 Share Posted April 30, 2016 I love sitting on my balcony and watching the ocean - fair weather or foul - there's just something mystifying about watching the ocean waves. And a glass of wine in hand never hurts!

Vette Gal Posted May 1, 2016 #56 Share Posted May 1, 2016 Including all of the waiting: waiting for the cruise date to get here, waiting at the hotel the night before, waiting in line to check in (I also enjoy interacting with the person doing the check-in), and waiting in the line as we actually board. My anticipation builds until I want to pop! I feel like a little girl anticipating Christmas. We enjoy all the activities involved with waiting because it's all colored with the knowledge that we'll soon be on the ship. Then it's finally time and we're off on our advdenture. I just LOVE crusing! I feel exactly the same. We have only cruised 3 times but I absolutely love it. I feel so privileged to be able to afford such a wonderful vacation experience. We have a Hawaii cruise booked for this December and I am so exited already. Today, we were in Long Beach and we saw the Crown Princess in port in San Pedro. Just seeing her has got me ready to pack and go. Unfortunately, I still have quite a bit of time to wait.

framer Posted May 1, 2016 #60 Share Posted May 1, 2016 Spending quality time with my wife. Cruising has changed as we get older. When I 1st took the wife on a cruise she was in that hi stress job that she would get five call a day to put out fires at work, cruising stopped that, they couldn't get ahold of her:D. I then realized that we could really connect and enjoy each others company. framer
The Wilkies Posted May 1, 2016 #61 Share Posted May 1, 2016 I feel the same way about the rocking and rolling! Me too. you know you are on a ship. Love watching the sea as well. It's hypnotic.
Go-Bucks! Posted May 1, 2016 #62 Share Posted May 1, 2016 I love the feeling I get when the taxi pulls up to the port and I see the ship sitting there waiting!! Then the excitement of checking in and walking up the gangway. It means that the fun is about to begin and I have so much to look forward to. :D (Conversely, I don't like disembarkation - all the fun is over and I have to get back to work.) :(
Wolfhunt Posted May 1, 2016 #63 Share Posted May 1, 2016 Seeing the ship as you approach port. I still love the look of cruise ships. I love unpacking the suitcases in the stateroom, once I have done that I know I am officially on board. I love that embarkation drink and the end of the muster drill. Exploring new ships, finding that band, piano player, or bar that you just know is going to be your nightly stop. I also love sea days. We always have a balcony and being able to sit out there reading, enjoying the sound of the sea, perhaps with a drink or snack. Plus, on sea days I know I have no plans except whatever time we have dinner.

kimlovesfl Posted May 1, 2016 #65 Share Posted May 1, 2016 (edited) Stepping on your ship for the first time, and the sail away. On our first cruise on the Celebrity Constellation, I was hooked from the sail away party. I also love being absolutely in the moment without the distraction of a cell phone or computer. I really thought I would have a hard time without texting, email, facebook, etc, and you know what? I don't miss it at all. Our first cruise was our first vacation in almost 7 years, because we just couldn't afford to go anywhere. I decided we needed a vacation and could afford it, so I booked a cruise, made the deposit, and THEN told my husband we were going. Seeing the Constellation in Ft Lauderdale for the first time, getting a mimosa on board, then heading up to the pool deck for the "sizzle sail away" with a Latin band and everyone having fun and leaving that beautiful port with the wonderful send off the residents of the area give you, brought tears to my eyes. We were truly on vacation, no one could bother us, I didn't have to work for almost a week. We have since sailed twice on Princess, and that feeling when you first see your ship in port, and then see the inside, and watch your ship go out to sea...well, I don't think it will ever get old. I work multiple jobs, and have a hard time relaxing in the little down time I do have, and cruising really forces me to sit back and just enjoy life. USCAdventurer Posted May 1, 2016 #66 Share Posted May 1, 2016 (edited) the anticipation of the cruise and meeting people on the roll call are two of the things i like best. and of course, just being on the ship is fabulous! and i've learned to love celebrity cruise line and their aqua class and dining in blu but the mini-suites on princess are larger. tonit964 Posted May 2, 2016 #68 Share Posted May 2, 2016 The one thing that makes me so happy is when I first get on the ship and I'm walking down the hallway to my cabin and I get a whiff of it, cruise ship smell. I can't explain it other than when you buy a new car and it has that smell, well to me, cruise ships have a smell. It just takes me back to so many good memories of my other cruises.
