CruiseBride926 Posted May 4, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2016 Has anyone had any spa services on board? I'll be turning 30 on board our next cruise and figured I'd gift myself a facial. I tried googling and got some mixed reviews most of which are pretty dated. Also it will be on the pride so no cloud 9. Xmansmom Posted May 4, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2016 Every time I cruise I get some spa service. Typically I will get one of the daily specials that includes a massage and facial. I enjoy them. They are more expensive then on land and they will try to sell you stuff. I just ignore the sales pitch.
jdemps Posted May 4, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2016 I only did a spa day one time on the ship and then I did just the scalp massage due to a headache on time - I won't be going back - the seemingly endless sales pitch and health questions they ask you before services isn't relaxing at all. 20 minutes into your appt, you begin the service and then they spend another 20 minutes after trying to sell you products. Just say no in the beginning if you don't want all that. I get massages before and after I go at the local place instead of on the ship now. Cheaper to get 2 than get 1 on the ship. Also, depending on where you are sailing, there are great massages on the beaches you can get for $25 - $50 for a pretty descent massage.
CruiseBride926 Posted May 4, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted May 4, 2016 Maybe my gift will be a pre-cruise spa visit. And no massages for me. Sadly I'm far too ticklish. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
TxChick Posted May 4, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2016 Top to toe is always offered and it's great. Usually $100 for facial and massage.
nator555 Posted May 4, 2016 #6 Share Posted May 4, 2016 (edited) I won't go back to the spa because their sales pitch is just too much. No thanks doesn't mean keep asking ugh. Edited May 4, 2016 by nator555
jenms2000 Posted May 5, 2016 #7 Share Posted May 5, 2016 I agree about the sales pitch. I got a foot massage on Magic last week and the girl tried to make me feel stupid for not buying the $300 worth of stuff SHE thought I needed!! I was sure to mention that on the survey I did after I got home.
cslatts Posted May 5, 2016 #8 Share Posted May 5, 2016 There is usually a sea day special. I think I paid $119 for a full body massage this past April. They will try to sell you $180 worth of crap on your way out. A "no thank you" worked just fine. Massage was worth the $119. Wasn't that much more than I typically pay while at home. TxChick Posted May 5, 2016 #9 Share Posted May 5, 2016 I agree, a simple no thank you is fine. In fact, I tell them I'm not interested in any products prior to my session and all is fine.
loretta5ue Posted May 5, 2016 #10 Share Posted May 5, 2016 I wouldn't do a facial on a cruise unless it was on the last day. The skin on my face is sensitive to the sun and I wouldn't want to have any issues I photos etc. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
Banks822 Posted May 5, 2016 #11 Share Posted May 5, 2016 I had the fire and ice pedicure last week on the Conquest and was pleased with it.
minnesotagirly Posted May 5, 2016 #12 Share Posted May 5, 2016 I had the shellac mani/pedi on my last cruise. While it does cost more than at home I thought they did a good job. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
kako14 Posted May 5, 2016 #13 Share Posted May 5, 2016 I was just on the pride s few weeks ago and the spa was terrible. My advice is take the $ and go to a spa at home. The massage was terrible, the sales pitch and customer service were horrible, it was very expensive and totally not worth it.
oxymoron11 Posted May 5, 2016 #14 Share Posted May 5, 2016 I love the Elemis quartz facial, last cruise they combined it with a full body massage. Great deal.
beachgoddess Posted May 5, 2016 #15 Share Posted May 5, 2016 Had a facial 2 yrs ago on the Breeze. It was nice, but these people don't take no for an answer! High pressure sales pitch for at least 15 minutes after I was done. About as much pressure if not more as Massage Envy! Won't do that again. Galatz Posted May 5, 2016 #16 Share Posted May 5, 2016 I find if you board early and go to the spa first, they have some good embarkation special rates...still more than on land, but cheaper than on a day at sea
evandbob Posted May 5, 2016 #17 Share Posted May 5, 2016 Everyone should know the sauna and steam room are free. If I get a massage, I tell them up front as well as write on the pre-questionaire that if they try a sales pitch they will ruin my experience, I will walk out and I won't pay. Never heard a sales peep. Some services are better than others, and the proficiency of the techs is variable, but if I'm winning in the casino, I'll treat myself to a massage.
