Majesty of the Seas Post Dry Dock Trip Report May 2016

Really enjoying your review - but wishing she were still here in Miami! :)

I think she has the best crew in the fleet.

I agree, by far the best crew we experienced. And not just one or two; everyone we encountered was happy, helpful and dedicated to their job.

After my morning struggle with caffeine, things only got better. We met the kids for breakfast in the Windjammer and other than the eggs (seriously, what was up with the eggs? They were more like egg batter) everything was delicous. We found the perfect spot and settled in for a long, relaxing day poolside.

By 10:30, the caribbean band was setting up and Marc let us all know that they would be opening the slash down zone after a dedication ceremony at 11:00. The new area, with the exception of the hot tub, had been closed since we boarded.

The ceremony was cute and afterwards the band played as we sipped drinks, soaked up some sun and watched the belly flop competition, a family favorite. The kids did the rock wall and we enjoyed the sea day barbeque for lunch.

The chicken and pork were to die for:

Around 13:00, the bar staff set up a mobile bar right next to my chair and for the next 3 hours, Ane, the bar tender, treated me like a VIP, handing my drinks over to me in my chair and even had one of the pool attendants grab some desserts for me and the kids from the Windjammer. I asked him to marry me, but he reminded that I already had Stu.

By 16:00, I was feeling pretty good, but it was formal night and I love getting dressed up, so headed back to the cabin to get ready. We met up in the Scooner bar for some pre-dinner drinks and I finally saw how big it was compared to the other ships we have been on. We took some photos and headed to see Ashton where he had our wine already waiting for us at the table.

Definitely enjoying this review ... it's nice to still be able to have a family vacation when all your kids are grown.

Yes! Who knows when we will be able to do it again. My youngest starts college in the fall and there will only be one left at home. They grow up and fly away on their own too quickly.

Dinner was wonderul again.

We began with a toast to each other

And had a delicious meal.

After dinner, we took some more photos. I wanted to make sure we got one perfect one for the trip, but unfortunetly, none of the photos came out very good. The one photo we did like on the staircase had a couple comeing down the stairs behind us and the camera caught them in an akward motion. The only photos of us on formal night were taken with our cell phones.

Great review. It looks like the family is having a blast. Speaking of "blast" -- Anger from Inside Out is hilarious for all the wrong reasons but definitely sums up your feelings regarding the pop issues.

I look forward to reading the rest of your review.

Sometimes just.raising the bed frame allows the suitcase to slide under the frame. If not, open the suitcase and push under the bed.

While not as nice, I've also found splitting the bed gives more interior room - or at least it seems that way to me.

I never thought of opening the suitcase to fit it under - that would have worked. At least I know for next time - Thanks!

Yep, that pretty much sums it up. It was only such a big deal because I need my morning soda. Stu and the kids didn't mind as much.

Enjoying it all so far!

Thank you!

So excited to read this review. I leave Monday with my son and we are both very excited.

After dinner, Stu and Matty both when back to the cabins to change (it's so hard to keep them in formal wear) and relax while the girls and I went to the casino. We planned to meet up at the Scooner bar before the adult comedy show.

We had fun, but no luck playing the slots, so we walked around the shops a bit before heading to the scooner bar. Seats at the piano opened up right away and soon we were singing along with Kelly, who was doing an Elton John/Billy Joel theme.

I love piano bars and Kelly was fantastic. The girls and I sang along until the guys showed up and we got good seats for the show.

The show was ok; I don't normally care watching for husband vs. wife humor with Stu because it can sometime spark a debate between us, but we were safe. After the show, it was time for bed as we were arriving in Nassau early and we had plans to go to the beach.

Thank you for sharing. Loving your review!!

With the new TV/movie screen on the pool deck, did they show movies at night? That's one thing we love on Carnival ships.

Yes they did. They were playing Star Wars, Spongbob and Gods of Egypt and maybe another one or two. The audio and video were very good, but the way the deck is set up, the screen is blocked from most places on deck 11 due to the awnings over the hot tubs and the splash zone. There seems to be a better view from deck 12, but no cover if there is weather.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this review. Every fall a few of us ladies do a quick get away from Port Canaveral and we really enjoyed the Enchantment. Our concerns with Majesty were there are no "balcony cabins", either jr. suite or full suite if you want a balcony and there is no solarium.

Does Majesty have a Park Cafe? The one on Enchantment was pretty good, absolutely not like Oasis and Allure, but not bad.

Anxious to hear more about your adventures on Majesty.

Majesty has something like Park Cafe (unless it got replaced in the renovation) on Deck 12 above Windjammer on the left. Good selection of paninis, a nice salad bsr, some soups, etc.

Thanks Matt, hope they still have it, liked the soups and salad on Enchantment. The last 2 years on Enchantment they had pork for the sandwiches.......that was sure not the same as the beef. Good, just not the same when you are wanting that "Kummelweck" (sp??)

They had a deli in that area, next to Sorrento's pizza. We didn't try it or the Mexican restaurant as I tried to keep snacking to a minium this cruise. I didn't work, but I tried

Now on to day 3.

This was our first port day, Nassau. Like I said, we've been to Nassau more than a few times, but the kids hadn't. Our plan had been to go to the beach, spend some time in the straw market so the girls could shop and then grab a drink at Senor Frogs.

We woke up to a gloomy morning. Clouds, rain and lots of humidity. In five stops at Nassau (one of them for 3 days thanks to mechanical work on the Enchantment) I have never seen the sun shine in this port.

Instead of heading to the beach, we decided to have a relaxing breakfast and then just hit up the straw market after first crowds headed off the boat.

The kids headed to the pool while I headed to the gym to sweat out the last of my hangover.

While on the treadmill, I checked out the Norweigen Gem that was docked next to us. I noticed a man come out on to his balcony completly naked. NOT A STITCH OF CLOTHING. He proceeded to take a seat on his balcony and smoke what looked like a cigarette, all the while either not knowing he could be seen by us or not caring. Ah, cruise life...

After my work out and a quick shower, we met up and headed off the ship. It had started to rain, but it was light, so we snaped a few obligatory tourist photos and headed into port.

Compass Deli, but I thought I read it becomes extra cost Mexican in the evening.
