Can 4 adult women share a cabin for 5 days on the Triumph Aug 29? Any tips?

Recommended Posts

The carnival cruise specialist sounded shocked when I set up our cabin for our Aug 29th cruise that it was 4 adult women sharing a cabin.

Made me go HMMMMMM

I am super pumped to be going so I am thinking it can't be that bad.

Especially if we all agree to pack light and try to reduce duplicates of things--like blow dryers.

We had one in our group that every penny counts on this cruise and the $70 per person savings we had was significant enough for us to vote to share a cabin.

Can we do it without killing each other?

We booked an ocean view room to have a couch and a pull down. We have already agreed to rotate beds around so that no one person is stuck on the pull down the whole time.

What suggestions do you have?

Sure you can. And i can poke myself in the eye with a sharp stick!

What I would do is book one ocean view cabin for 2 and an interior cabin for 2, preferably right across the hallway.

Chances are the price will be about the same since cabins for 4 people are limited and priced accordingly.

This will give you twice the space and two bathrooms and showers. And it sounds like you would have no problem sharing the ocean view cabin for the ocean view....GS can set you all up with keys for both cabins.

A couple cruise ago, me, my wife and two teenage boys shared a balcony cabin. We were walking all over each other, and getting ready for dinner was a long process. I could not image with four women! Our next cruise we booked a balcony for 2 and an interior for 2 right across the hall. It was CHEAPER than the balcony for 4. It made a world of difference for everybody. We got keys for both cabins for everyone so if someone wanted to sit on the balcony they could, or if someone wanted to take an afternoon nap in the darkness that is an interior room, they could. It was all good.

How close are you with the people you're traveling with? And how high-maintenance is everyone? It's basically like fitting four adults in a dorm room. For 5 days, it's probably tolerable.

Does Triumph not have blow dryers in the rooms? I've only been on a few cruises, but there has always been a blow dryer in the room.

Also look into the spa and whether you can go up there to shower. Sharing a shower and bath with three other people might be rough.

It'll be tight. If any of you have camping or RV experience it'll be a huge help.

We travel triple all the time.

Cabin will have three or four drawers. Some are deep, some shallow. Three closets, one will have a few shelves. Hangars, about a dozen, are those horrible anti theft type. Three outlets- one low voltage in the bathroom for shavers, one 110v, one 220v. Bring a plug adapter as many things are now dual voltage. Bathroom should have four shelves.

How we manage....

We each take one small suitcase (never larger than 24") and a purse/tote/backpack. All gets stored under the beds.

Divide up the drawers and shelves. Use suitcases for things rarely going to be used. Also for dirty laundry.

Pack lightly, (the Fashion and Beauty board has lots of info). Pack on hangars or divide them up. We quadruple up-pants, top, jacket, scarf.

Highly recommend a small pocket holder for the person in the bunk. I use a 6 pocket holder found at Dollar Tree. This becomes my nightstand when hung on the hook next to it. Travel with Mim and Sis. I get all the bunks, Sis gets the sofas. Carnival bunks are comfortable and cabins are large-ish.

Cabin walls are metal. Could bring magnetic hooks or baskets for stuff.

Bring earplugs. Friends travel triple. On their first cruise they discovered one snores loud and talks in her sleep.

We are going on the 5 day on the triumph in November we have 3 women. I have traveled with 3 people in a cabin before and it was ok. But like the previous poster said it really depends on how high matainence everyone is. showers really need to be spaced out so everyone has time to get ready. Really the only problem would be grooming. if yall can work out that schedule then it will be fine. We are all low matainance so its really simple for us. It is good you chose a ocean view because of the couch. It will help out alot while getting ready. A hand held or make up mirror might also come in handy.

I am sure you can make it work and youll have a wonderful time :)

Shower in the gym if you need to.

You could do that . Check out what it would cost for an ocean view and an interior [like others said]. For $200. or 300. more it would be much more comfy. with two baths.

Showering elsewhere sounds like a real winner to me - pack soap, shampoo, razors etc so they can easily be carried back and forth.

Another thought - at the risk of sounding gross :D - would be to locate public restrooms right away that are convenient to your cabin or elevators for room mates who need to take a "little longer" using the toilet than #1.

I travelled with 4 women in room 1 time but we had a very large balcony also which helped greatly. I travel with 3 all the time (mom & aunt). Always use over door shoe holder (this works great for hygiene items, suntan lotion, misc items. When we had 4 the showers worked ok because we only ate in dining room 2 nights (rest on lido) so we could space then throughout morning and night plus we sat on balcony which gave privacy. I do know some that a couple go shower in gym locker room to make more manageable. I checked them out and they are actually larger than shower in room.

We usually have 3 to a room. We try to get a balcony so my husband sits outside while me and our 19 year old daughter shower and dress. When we don't have a balcony room, we try to get out of the room as much as possible. I like to sit on the back of the ship off of lido deck/buffet area. There are a few tables and chairs back there that are usually not used. I think of it as my balcony area. Also sit on promenade at table and chairs inside and look out of the large windows. I also like to sit in the coffee bar area.

Use the room mainly for sleeping, dressing and showering.

I did 3 women in a balcony before with my sister's. We did fine. We are booked in Oct for 4 women in a spa balcony on the Breeze. We will see but I don't foresee any problems. None of us are high maintenance and don't stress over stuff.

We're traveling 4 in a room in Oct Me, my 22 yr old DS, 17 yr old DD and 15 yr old DD. Will it be a very tight fit. Oh yeah, have I ever done it before. No, will I ever do it again? I don't know lol

Typically it's DH and myself and we do a suite so this is definitely something different, though Dh and I have done an OV before. I've never done an OV with 3 other adult sized people. I am considering at least upgrading to a balcony even though I swore I wouldn't, to keep costs down. I may need that little peace of heaven to keep my sanity :p

I think it will be fine though.

The biggest challenge will be all sharing one small bathroom. You will have to schedule yourselves for showering, etc. and all will need to keep their things organized and out of each other's way. Some use an overdoor hanger, others colapsible bins. on some ships you can shower or even do makeup in the gym or spa. Some of them have crazy nice facilities with lighted make-up mirrors, etc.

I just got back from a cruise where there were 4 women on a balcony on the Liberty. It worked perfectly fine. Sure we bumped hips a couple of times crossing the room, but there were no other issues. When we got back in from port, 2 of us headed to shower in the spa and the other 2 took turns in the cabin. It works depending on the personalities of the women and if you all go with the understanding that it will be close quarters.

You folks all sound much better at sharing than I'd like to be! Just imagine sharing your bedroom with 3 of your best friends for a week!

I would have fun doing it for one night like at an old fashioned slumber party but not for a week on a cruise!!

I wish you all good luck!

Our first cruise we had 4 in a balcony room. Two adults and two teens. One kid slept on a sofa bed, the other slept on a roll away. When the roll away was set up in the room it was tight and I felt like there wasn't a lot of room to move around. Bathroom time was limited but we were able to work out a schedule that everyone could agree on. All things considered we still had a great time. ....and that said...we have booked two rooms for our next cruise in February!

We traveled with my husband and I and my son and his friend-both 11 years old last year. We were on the Triumph in a Balcony. I will never do a balcony again with the pull down bunk. Otherwise, I think it will work if you keep in mind the following:

do use the showers in the gym/fitness center to get dressed.

pack light - cabinets are limited, drawer space is limited.

everyone can have their own things confined to their bed space - so I agree to have hooks, baskets, etc. for things that can clutter up the room.

organize the time and space in the room - I was fine with the space in the room with 4 of us except for that top bunk seemed to always be in the way. if we kept the room organized, it was very manageable, and we spend a lot of time in the room.

even if you use the room just for sleeping, there are so many places you can go on the ship to get away from a group - even though the group was my own family, I found that I needed to have silence , and solace from 1 man and 2 pre-teen boys - so I would take long walks up on the top decks, go to the deck under the lifeboats and read or listen to music, leisurely get dressed in the evenings when the fitness center was empty - I used the dry sauna to chill out before dinner and after my shower. I would even use the fitness center restrooms to have quiet time using "facilities".

if not, you can book connecting cabins although limited, we have done that quite often and gives us a little more room to spread out. if you all are close friends, it should be fun, its only 5 days and you can find plenty of ways not to go stir crazy in a tight space.

I have shared an inside with three other women on a four-day cruise, and we had a great time. I don't think any of us regretted sharing a room and saving money to spend in port and on board.

We brought extra hangers and hung up most of our clothes. Items we didn't need often, like jackets or elegant night shoes, stayed in the suitcases under the beds. The woman who brought the most makeup/toiletries brought a multi-pocket organizer that could be hung anywhere. We coordinated so one person brought a hair dryer, one brought a curling iron, etc.

We never had to use the shower gym because we found we all wanted showers at different times -- before or after breakfast, after a swim, one or two hours before dinner, in the evening, etc. It worked out naturally for us, but if it doesn't you can make a schedule or use the gym. With the mirrored desk area, there were actually two areas to get ready for dinner, and we are all different degrees of low maintenance with lots of experience sharing one bathroom and/or vacationing in a small tent. One woman went to sleep and woke up much earlier than the rest of us, but we were all considerate and quiet in the room.

Edited to Add: We were all "30's and above." :)
