Yorkies Rule Posted June 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2016 I will be boarding Oasis this Saturday (yay) and am so looking forward to it. However, a little apprehensive as I will be traveling solo. All that aside, will I be able to get money for the casino on my sea pass or will ATM be the only option?
CruisingRoyally Posted June 1, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 1, 2016 You can use your Seapass to get cash from the casino. However, there is a minimum and a surcharge. I believe it's $50 min and 5% charge, but don't quote me on that.
Rare silentbob007 Posted June 1, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 1, 2016 You might get better rates stopping at a standard ATM on the way to the ship rather than pull money out of the casino or the onboard ATM.
Artemus Posted June 1, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 1, 2016 A couple of weeks ago my wife got money for the casino on her Sea Pass Card (or whatever it's called) without a service charge.

I know of two conditions where they waive the service charge, maybe theree are more: 1) The SeaPass account is a cash account. 2) The guest is a member of the casino player's club. cb at sea Posted June 1, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 1, 2016 It's just easier to bring the cash you will need....your cabin has a safe to store it!

The OP is Canadian, maybe they are trying to avoid a fee from their bank for purchasing US dollars.

You are correct as usual, Bob. #2 would be the case for my wife.

Merion_Mom Posted June 1, 2016 #11 Share Posted June 1, 2016 (edited) Thank you all for your replies and advice. I will bring the cash with me and possibly I won't spend (gamble) as much :) I have cruised solo on the Oasis and had a blast. There is so much to do, it will be easy to stay out of the casino. (Stay out of the casino! The odds are horrid!) Ride the carousel. Go to every show and performance and parade in the Cruise Compass. Walk around the ship and try to find all of the Small Wonders. Read the "marquee" over the On The Air Club and try to find everything mentioned. Ride the Rising Tide Bar. Relax in and enjoy Central Park. Try the flowrider. (wear a shirt over your bathing suit! ;)) Go to trivia contests. Do the Scavenger Hunt. People watch on the Royal Promenade. Meet the Dreamworks characters. Take a picture. Try the wine sampler in Vintages. Go to the Art Auction. (and laugh! :D) Watch the rehearsals in the Aqua Theater. Watch the fountain shows at the Aqua Theater. Do your own personal Pub Crawl, hitting every bar on the ship. Walk around & take pictures of all of the art. Try the zipline. WATCH the zipliners. Lounge by the pool. Try BOTH pools. Hang out in the pub and listen to the guitar player/singer. Hand out in the Schooner Bar and sing along with the piano player. Book another cruise. :D And that was just in a couple of minutes of thought! Bon Voyage! Edited June 1, 2016 by Merion_Mom
