Daily Announcements

Haven't been on a RCI cruise in almost ten years, and we are thinking about booking one for next year. We've been doing Celebrity for the last few cruises, and I love the fact there is only one announcement per day (at least there used to be only one).

 

Are there a lot of announcements nowadays on RCI throughout the day?

 

Sorry, but I could care less that there's bingo in fifteen minutes, or an art auction in thirty minutes, etc., etc. You can read the dailies and get the activities schedule.

I was on Freedom last Year and don't remember them being excessive. There were 3 medical emergencies on that cruise and other than the Alpha code announcements for those I don't remember any.

RCi has cut back on announcements. No more repetitious art auction and bingo announcements on ships I have sailed the past couple of years.

We were on Serenade last year and never heard "announcements" at all. Thought the intercom might just be messed up in our room but we never heard them in any other places on the ship either. The two cruises before, there were daily, occasional brief announcements from the captain, mostly concerning departures, arrivals, weather, etc. but not for every little activity such as bingo.

Announcements have definitely been cut back.

 

Not sure if they limit it to 1 a day, but even if there are more, they're not too excessive.

Every now and then you encounter a cruise or a cruise director/activities manager who makes what you may consider "excessive announcements", but it is rare.

We were on Harmony last week. There were very few announcements and the ones we did have were necessary and informative.

Definitely less than it used to be. On my most recent sailings, it seems like other than the Captains daily announcements, the only other ones I heard were disembarking information while in ports.

Your "intercom" wasn't messed up..only muster drill and emergency announcements are heard...however I for one wish the captains announcements could be heard in cabin....I hate having to run and open the cabin door to hear him.
