Quick question about smoking NCL Escape Waterfront

I finally decided to keep our Escape Haven booking over our Allure of the Seas for next May. We are right now in 9318 right above the Waterfront. I know there are some smoking areas on the Waterfront, are guests able to smoke in the area below the balcony? There are other options available that I could switch cabins. I just didn't want smoke coming up, I read some areas on portside Waterfront and didn't even know if guests could even walk under where that balcony is.

Does anyone know where deck 8 smoking actually is? I've read some cabin reviews but never read anything about smoking being an issue. Like I stated there are other cabins available but we know deck 9 has bigger balcony, which I don't want if smoking below.

Thanks!!

There is no smoking allowed below your stateroom. You have one of the best H6 staterooms on the ship.

The waterfront below you doesn't have much traffic so it's usually quiet.

The only complaint that I've read about deck 9 aft was about the late night cleaning of the waterfront and spray from the power washers being used.

Smoking is permitted on the starboard side of the Waterfront excluding any food service areas. On the other side of the ship from you.

Have a wonderful cruise!

That is false.

On Escape, smoking areas are limited to: 1) Cigar lounge; 2) casino when open; 3) Spice H2O; 4) Vibe; 5; starboard side of pool (enclosed area) and 6) Haven sundeck forward.

There is no smoking at all outside on the Waterfront. On the Escape T/A, smoking was allowed outside at the 5 O' Clock Somewhere Bar. The following week (Nov. 14th) for the inaugural cruise from Miami, smoking was prohibited there. The reason I was told that the when the doors opened, the smoke blew across the hallway into La Cucina.

I was on both cruises and am a smoker. Just off the Escape May 7th so unless something has changed since then the areas listed above are correct.

Tracy

P.S. On Getaway, smoking is still allowed at the outside Sunset Bar on deck 8 Waterfront.

The shortest distance I think would be Deck 9 by the Forward elevators/stairs. One flight down then out the door.

The most convenient would probably be Deck 8 Forward, Starboard side. Down the hall, out the door. No stairs or elevator.

The other place is the upstairs part of Waves Pool Bar on Deck 17.

There is no smoking on the Escape waterfront, which is where you just said to go.

Which means the outside 5 O'Clock Somewhere Bar is the only place on the Waterfront where smoking is effectively permitted. This is the same location as the Humidor cigar lounge.

You can't smoke anywhere on the waterfront. Try it, by the 5 O'clock somewhere bar, and watch the Chocolate Cowboy come running and yelling. LOL. He can smell smoke coming from above the bar. I've seen him leave the bar, and go looking out by the rail to see who's smoking on their balcony on deck 9.

I'm pretty sure people were smoking there. I don't so it's only an observation.

If so, then they were breaking the rules. There is no smoking allowed anywhere on the waterfront on Escape, as has been explained several times in this thread. So probably not a good idea to direct people to go there to smoke.

  • 2 weeks later...

i have contacted the german customer service: They wrote me last week:

"Smoking is permitted in the cigar Lounge and on the starboard side of the ship"

I wrote again, that i have different information.

Next answer: "The answer was correct, we have the infomations from our internal data base":::

(and my question regards the caribic routes..!).

There is NO smoking in Vibe on Escape.  Smoking in the casino is for folks who are gambling, there were frequent announcements made last week to make passengers aware of that.  Definitely no smoking allowed outside on deck 8 on the Escape.

I just got off the Escape last weekend. There is definitely no smoking permitted anywhere on the Waterfront. I saw some people doing it the first night of the cruise, right in front of the no smoking plaques on the wall and on all of the tables. I did not see anyone doing it after that first night, as I assume the staff cracked down on it.

Yes, thank you...I thought so as well.🤓 I just hate to be the person who's never been on NCL at all yet cites online this n that about what goes on on it, so I stayed quiet. 😌

I also heard the casino was going to put in a section for smoking in part of the casino, I know there is smoking in the casino now, but it would be nice to close off a section for smokers, so non-smokers don't have to breath in all that smoke. I am a sometimes smoker, trying to quit, but I hate going into casinos because the smoke is always so thick. I felt this way even when I was a regular smoker. I always feel bad for the dealers

On the Escape there is currently smoking throughout the casino. On the Bliss (and I assume on the Encore) there is an enclosed smoking section.

I read that they were going to be changing that on the Escape too, but I don't think before my cruise. How was the smoke in the casino?

Just got off the Escape.  I thought the smoking was excessive; however, I just can’t stand the smell of smoke.  My family has been a Disney cruiser for a long time.  We liked the Escape as good as Disney, except for the smoke.  We have agreed that the Escape will not be in our offering in the future.  The Bliss; however, is an option because of the enclosed casino.

We were impressed with the service, ship, and food.  We still like the feeling of Disney ships and will cruise on the new ones when available.  We did not feel the Escape was inferior in any way, just didn’t like the smoke.
