How good is Magic? experienced cruiser only....

We sailed the Magic 3 times. I would give it about a 7.

The decor is nice in soothing tones of blues and beige.

It has a Red Frog Pub that serves Pub Grub and it now has a Guys Burgers and a Blue Iguana Cantina.

The outdoor space and hot tubs on deck 5 are nice.

We had spa balcony cabins all 3 times we sailed on her and it was very quiet up there on deck 12 and very convenient to the Lido deck and to Serenity.

Our only issue was the service. On our first cruise it was great. On the second cruise we had the worst waiter we've ever had in 34 Carnival cruises. The 3rd cruise the problem was a total fail on the part of Guest Services. Chair hogging was a problem in the theater and around the pools. Not Carnival's fault that the other guests were rude.

I also have to say that I am biased against that class of ships. DH and I both prefer the Conquest Class.

Magic is many fav Carnival ship, sailed on her twice last fall. Spacious, no Farkus inspired decor nightmares, walkaround deck 5, lots of food venues, and hardly any crowding. I'd give her an 8.

I'm sailing Vista in November, so Magic's spot as #1 Carnival ship might be challenged.

In full transparency, I have totally avoided the Fantasy class the last 10 years, and have sailed on the Conquest Class ships the most. Total of 203 sea days on 28 different Carnival cruises.

9 cruises total 2 the Magic , I also have been on The Dream and Breeze

I'd give the Breeze the highest at 10 and Magic right behind her with a 9 , Breeze is the Best Carnival has ....Magic is right there ,but The décor and feel of the Breeze is a step above the Magic

You said that you had spa cabins before on the magic. We are sailing on 7/23 and have cabin 12040. I have heard that some of the cabins are covered and some are not. Any feedback on that. If its not covered, can you rate the privacy level on a 1 to 10...10 being private. Thanks!

I would give it 8-9, we had a great cruise. We were on it for the Ultra Casino trip. But Dr E the cruise director is GREAT. Had a fantastic time.

I saw Dr E on youtube and he sang his song and was reported to have said far for fire for the rednecks on board. I found that a bit obnoxious and his song was illy. Must be better in person because I haven't heard anyone dislike the guy.

I hope they paint my Spa balcony before Nov. 2017 as it is a sickly green shade. Nice cabin though.

A solid 9. Only because to me 10 means perfect and nothing is perfect.

I absolutely love love love this ship and am so thankful she is in my favorite homeport for now. Hope she stays a while

The song is a little silly but Dr E is great. Ive never really cared either way for any CD but he truly made a lasting impression. Hope to cruise with him again someday.

Our experience is that deck 11 provides far mor privacy than 12.

We just got back from our cruise and I'd give it an 8. Loved the ship, awesome cruise director........but terrible long food lines every single day morning, lunch, and evening! Some of the guys serving Guys burgers and the guys serving bacon were terribly rude. Once the guy handed me a burger with about 7 fries on the plate so I ask for more fries and he acted like I had cursed him. Same as the guy in the bacon line. [emoji849].

7.5. I've sailed on it a couple of times and had spa cabins which are well worth it in my opinion. The ship is great and I've never had problems with the service and enjoy all the shows. My less than perfect score is because it seems to offer a slightly rougher ride than the other ships I've been on. Not bad at all but when on the Conquest class ships you really can forget you are at sea but the Magic will remind you every few minutes with a solid thud. I've only stayed on decks 10 or 11 and it was noticeable, surely it's worse the lower you go.

We noticed the same thing when we were on Deck 11. Every few minutes a solid thud. But guess what? We went down to deck 2 and didn't have the same experience. It happened on the Magic but not on the Dream or Breeze. I wonder why.

As someone who has Magic booked for early next year I find this thread quite encouraging! :p This will be our first Dream-class ship and are very excited!

Same here. We're booked for next October (a lifetime away) and it will be our first time on the Dream class.
