cruz STY Posted July 18, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2016 This is our first Princess Cruise and on all our other cruises my husband has worn his kilt, I notice that there's a few comments on what's acceptable attire for formal nights and what's not! The kilt is heavy and if it's not going to be worn he may as well leave it at home.

Rare JimmyVWine Posted July 18, 2016 #10 Share Posted July 18, 2016 The outside decks can be very breezy, so have him keep that in mind when deciding what will go underneath.
shakeNbake Posted July 18, 2016 #11 Share Posted July 18, 2016 Have seen one on the Royal Princess Maiden Voyage. Holy Loch Scot, USS Simon Lake AS33
santopdown Posted July 18, 2016 #12 Share Posted July 18, 2016 We were on the Star Princess this past January on a South America cruise and a gentleman at the table next to ours wore a kilt on one of the formal nights. Andrew, the head waiter, came over and had his picture taken with him. I would take that as a seal of approval.

Rare JimmyVWine Posted July 18, 2016 #15 Share Posted July 18, 2016 We've seen kilts on Princess ships many times! :) I assume you mean that you've seen people wearing kilts while on Princess ships. Otherwise, that would have to be one big kilt! :D
cruiseryyc Posted July 18, 2016 #16 Share Posted July 18, 2016 Absolutely! Nothing better looking than a Scotsman properly decked out.
buchananglasgow Posted July 18, 2016 #17 Share Posted July 18, 2016 Yes, I have a friend who always wears his kilt on formal night. Also dress tartan trousers with kilt jacket and bow tie.

cruz STY Posted July 18, 2016 Author #21 Share Posted July 18, 2016 Thanks everyone for your replies, please be assured he will not be on deck if there is more than a light breeze. When we were on a Middle Eastern cruise a few years ago he had his photo taken quite a lot, especially with the lady's!
shredie Posted July 18, 2016 #22 Share Posted July 18, 2016 I LOVE seeing a man in his kilt, all decked out. There aren't always many of them on my voyages, but it's a treat when they show up. I think cultural dress is always an option on formal night.
CanadaDeb Posted July 18, 2016 #23 Share Posted July 18, 2016 I love seeing ethnic dress and uniforms on formal nights!!!
skf Posted July 18, 2016 #24 Share Posted July 18, 2016 As long as Hubby does not do as the kilt-wearer once (maybe more than once; who knows?) did at Nelson's Column in Montréal...On a park bench, legs spread wide for the benefit of two schoolgirls. This really happened; we saw the whole exhibition.
Potstech Posted July 18, 2016 #25 Share Posted July 18, 2016 WOW A dress code posting which everyone agrees to. Yes a kilt is perfectly acceptable.
