Ine Posted July 20, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2016 (edited) Most of the bigger ones will, but donot expect a good exchange rate. Bills only, no coins. Change will be in Pesos. Edited July 20, 2016 by Ine
SadieN Posted July 20, 2016 #3 Share Posted July 20, 2016 (edited) Which ports? We're comfortable using USD in Ensenada, Cabo and PV. Other ports we use pesos. Tourist area stores will take USD. Go off the beaten path and its best to use pesos. Expect to pay a bit of a premium using USD. We've had restaurant use 14:1 when the PV port cambio was giving 17:1. Sometimes it is easier to pay in USD and ignore the exchange rate as the savings are minimal on a $20US meal. VennDiagram Posted July 21, 2016 #4 Share Posted July 21, 2016 We like using pesos when in Mexico. For us, it helps us feel we are not at home :) IMHO the merchants seem to appreciate it, too.
OCruisers Posted July 21, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 21, 2016 No need to use pesos at your ports of call unless you wish to. It's a good idea to always have smaller US bills. ;)
riffatsea Posted July 21, 2016 #6 Share Posted July 21, 2016 We use pesos because we live in San Diego and getting them is easy for us. You can use your USA $$s but you will be paying a bit more.
