When are upgrades offered?

You can check yourself on the website daily, or as often as you choose, to see if the price goes down. After final payment is when prices unusually go down, but it isn't always the case. It's all a supply and demand thing.

Each cruise line is different. So the NCL board could be helpful here.

Be aware, if you call at the wrong time, there is the probable response that you will need pay the going rate.

Just for your info, if you pay for it, it is an "upsell". If it is free, it is an "upgrade".

Hello!

I wondered at what point I should call and ask if upgrades are available for a good deal?? I cruise in February on the Norwegian Epic.

Thanks a bunch!

Your TA should call you if the cruise line is offering upgrades or other cabin/cruise changes that might be a beneficial option for you.

I would also suggest that you keep note of all the prices of the various cabins when you booked. Many times the cruise lines will offer upgrade offers that are the same price as when you booked. Not much of an offer when you could have selected it yourself when you placed your booking.
