Moerin78 Posted August 3, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2016 Which line would you recommend for an Alaskan cruise? We want to do a round trip from either Seattle or Vancouver, and you recommend the inside passage route in both directions. Thanks for any help. Shmoo here Posted August 3, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2016 Which line would you recommend for an Alaskan cruise? We want to do a round trip from either Seattle or Vancouver, and you recommend the inside passage route in both directions. Thanks for any help. Cruising in Alaska is basically about the itinerary, not so much the ship. Holland America and Princess have done the Alaska cruises the longest, and tend to have the best itineraries. You can head over to the Alaska board for some more in depth information: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=-1&f=
Texas Tillie Posted August 3, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 3, 2016 The Vancouver round trips will do the inside passage for the entire cruise. The Seattle round trips sail outside Vancouver Island going and coming. The major ports on round trip cruises are on the inside passage.
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 3, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2016 There are a lot of 7 day round trip cruises from both Seattle and Vancouver. You need to check airfares to both ports. There are also some wonderful 14 day cruises out of Vancouver on HAL -- one is the Amsterdam in 2017 which we have done a couple of times -- ports like Homer, Kodiak, Anchorage which other cruise lines do not do. Another thing you want to make certain to see -- either Glacier Bay or Hubbard Glacier. HAL and Princess have the most permits to do Glacier Bay. Joberri Posted August 5, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 5, 2016 We did Alaska on the Crown princess 13 may this year, it was our first cruise ever and we loved it, coming from New Zealand for us it was a trip of a lifetime.:)
shadow8800 Posted August 5, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 5, 2016 We did Celebrity for our Alaska cruise. So beautiful... It was our first cruise too and we loved cruising through Tracy Arm but ours did not go to Glacier Bay or Hubbard Glacier I will probably pick one of those itineraries if (when) we go again!:D
Nic6318 Posted August 5, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 5, 2016 Hi there We had an 8 day cruise this past May that left from Vancouver and returned to Seattle and had a wonderful time on the Carnival Legend. So you have a choices. Select like you would for any other cruise. Look at the Alaska port of call threads and decide what you would like to see and do. Alaska is all about what you want to do and itinerary. Once you have decided on that, you see which cruise line will bring to where you want to go. Then you just have to compare sailing dates prices ships amenities. Now you are almost there. Pick one and all you have to do is your planning and packing. hope this helps have a great cruise
