smyliecruising Posted August 6, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2016 We are sailing on the Freedom out of Galveston on Saturday September 17th. Dallas Cowboys play at noon on Sunday the 18th at noon on Fox. My DH has rarely missed a game. It would be fun to watch a game on the ship. Would it be on in the sports bar or even on the big screen by the pool?

Rare jimbo5544 Posted August 6, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 6, 2016 Should be on at the sports bar I was not sure, rarely walk by when it's game time. I usually walk by at night and there is a soccer game on (which in and of itself is interesting). Sent from my iPhone

klfrodo Posted August 6, 2016 #11 Share Posted August 6, 2016 Only if the game is scheduled as a Nationally televised game. If it's only a locally televised game, then no it won't be shown.
splintz Posted August 6, 2016 #12 Share Posted August 6, 2016 it will be shown if it is the nationally televised game or it is the local team on whatever the satellite feed they have. i have never cruised out of Galveston but when you cruise out of a certain port it doesn't necessarily guarantee that you will have the local broadcast feed from the departure port. the local satellite feed could be from miami. you can find out by watching the news in your cabin. on your first day on the ship talk to the bartender at the sports bar he will have a list of all the sports that will be available for the week printed out on a clip board. smyliecruising Posted August 6, 2016 Author #14 Share Posted August 6, 2016 I really don't even like sports but we have been watching the Cowboy games for 25 years so watching on a ship would just be too cool. Podna's Posted August 6, 2016 #15 Share Posted August 6, 2016 (edited) Ok thank you! It will be nationally televised on Fox Sent from my iPhone using Forums Nationally televised games are the Thursday night, Sunday night and Monday night games. Sunday noon games are mostly for the markets of the particular teams only. There's still a slim chance you'll be able to catch it. Its the best of both worlds for the NFL fan, cruising and football. [emoji4] Good luck. Edited August 6, 2016 by Podna's
TX Catty Cruiser Posted August 6, 2016 #16 Share Posted August 6, 2016 I always cruise during football season and have seems many football games on the big screen also saw a World Series game. I have found that if they can, they will try to get the game that's most popular with the cruisers ie: sailing out of NOLA they had the LSU game on in the sports bar. I have also seen a game on the big screen in Spanish because that's where they could get the feed. Keep your fingers crossed and be hopeful. Please let us know... I'm sailing out of Galveston in October.

[emoji4'] Good luck. Technically yes those are true national televised games. But on Sunday whatever the home market you are in let's say Miami. If Dolphins play at 1pm on cbs network as the regional game you will have that on cbs at 1pm. Some markets you will have a 1pm game on fox available to watch. This will be a game picked by network and league as game of the week. Usually 2 designated games you will get whatever game is designated for your market. Then at 4pm you will get a west coast 1pm game on either fox or cbs with another designated game for your region. You don't just get 1 Sunday game that is your regional team and that's it. you get designated national games for your region also. Unfortunately I live in the Baltimore region and if the Ravens play at 1pm on cbs the 1pm game on fox is not aired they have a movie instead. But I still get a national game at 4pm. Since the Houston Texans are home that week, you will only get the Texans game at 1 PM on CBS. You'll get two 4 PM games. Even if you get the Miami stations, I still don't think you'd get the Cowboys. The Dolphins play at 1 PM, so Miami will get two 4 PM games. And if you get the NYC stations, it's slightly different. You won't get the Cowboys since the NY Giants are home at 1, but you'll only get one 1 PM game (the Giants on FOX) and one 4 PM game (probably Indianapolis at Denver on CBS). Rare Saint Greg Posted August 6, 2016 #20 Share Posted August 6, 2016 (edited) If the ship out of Galveston gets Texas stations, you'll get it. But I wouldn't just assume it gets the stations Galveston gets. Cruising out of New Orleans our ship had Florida stations. I personally wouldn't cruise during a Saints game..That's why I'm going Mon-Sat in September but Sun-Sun two weeks after the Super Bowl :D Edited August 6, 2016 by Saint Greg
