OK I read back through this and did a little research. It appears that the only way you can order from JR is to have your Seapass card swiped which results in you getting an additional charge on your account. Even if you were to get it and eat elsewhere not requiring you to be served while sitting at a table, correct? So JR - additional charge, Guys - no additional charge. Am I right?

Are there still "free" aka "included in your fare" burgers on a RC ship?

There are in windjammer....made well in advance and not a competitor to either of those two options. The argument for JR is smoke and mirrors...plain and simple.

I think I saw some generic burgers in the buffet on Carnival too. Maybe it was Celebrity. I don't remember but I wouldn't want one of those. Yuk.

I have never seen any....at least not on a ship with guys. You are correct, if there are any, they pale in comparison to either option. We have not even gotten into taste here....but we will see if my friends want to go down that path....

I really hope that on the Pride they replace Chopsticks with the BBQ place and then the second section of just "buffet" (where they have the late risers breakfast stuff and otherwise it's often empty) with the for fee Seafood place.

I think both of these are awesome choices.

Good point, I think the op was trying to make it a negative.....

The negative is something that for many years food that was included is now a pay for item. They keep adding more and more pay for foods and as they are accepted by cruisers they will have incentive to keep doing this.

Slippery slope we have here.

I am so glad this option is available. I would rather have better quality. When carnival charges for something the quality goes way up and these items are so much more on land. I am assuming they will be very good quality as every other item I have paid for has been excellent but I haven't tried it yet. The free fish was just ok. I don't spend money on drinks on a cruise but we love to eat so I am excited for the better quality choices. There will still be free food though if I have a budget pinch so all is good.

On our first cruise we didn't buy any upgraded food and we still had a wonderful time with our meager budget. Our next cruise we ate at the steak house and ate pub grub at red frogs and we loved both. I think it is great that I can pay a bit for better food if I have the money but not feel slighted if I don't because Carnival provides plenty of fish and seafood in the mdr. I think I would rather pay $6 for a great piece of fish than zero for a mediocre one. But if I don't have $6 bucks I can still get fed really nicely at many free venues:)
