My time dining - question from first timer

We will be taking a short cruise on the Grandeur in September. This will be our first time on Royal Caribbean, and we are somewhat confused about how the my time dining works. We usually travel on Silversea, and you can arrive at the Main Dining Room any time you like, with no reservation and be seated right away. Do you have to reserve a table each day while on board or can you just show up and get seated right away? Some of the time there will be two of us, and some of the time there might be nine of us.

Many thanks for your help.

Thanks for the quick replies. Is there one area of the MDR that is better than others? Is there one area that is quieter?

We've found that the area near the windows (farthest away from the central opening) is the quietest.

Which cruise will you be on? September 10 or 24?
