CRAZY price drops on NCL Escape

Recommended Posts

You can do a 7-day cruise with a $299 SINGLE rate for a GTY Inside...$399 single rate for a GTY Balcony!

I cruise out of NYC, but honestly just buying a ticket to Miami would still make these cheaper than a lot of the sailings from up here.

Del Rio must be grump around the office this week with discounts like these...

Don't see any rates like that right now...but it's an easy bus ride to Boston and and an easy walk to the terminal from the bus station. I'd thought about trying that but never saw a good enough deal.

???? Friday to Quebec = $399

Last week we sailed to Bermuda = $399

We may continue to see low prices for the Escape in the foreseeable future as Royal will have 3 Oasis class ships sailing out of Florida starting this fall.

It will be somewhat difficult for the Escape to compete with the Oasis class ships if they were similarly prices as there are simply more amenities and things to do on the Oasis. I guess the only way NCL can fill the Escape is with heavy discounting.

And competition will only intensifies in Dec 2017 when the MSC Seaside arrives and start sailing out of Miami.

Is $399 a solo rate? Cheapest I see to Quebec on NCL.com is $798.

That's too much for me. I'M DEL RIO'S WORST NIGHTMARE.

Sure was, I ended up paying $350 with taxes, with 2 cruise deposits. :) Had just taken the ship 2 weeks earlier- what I thought was also a great rate at more.

Monday, I just booked a 14 day Star sailing for next week, AND got the $100 price drop yesterday. $800 total.

I hope the 2 deposits continue being extended, since this is the 3rd consecutive round of them. Have used 12 so far this year. Great savings at $125 each. :)

I am 86 days out, I booked a GX Balcony but now it's 300 cheaper. Wondering if I can have the difference refunded.

Usually after final payment there isn't anything that can be done. That's why they super drop prices right at 90 days. If you booked with a TA maybe they can get you an upgrade or a little OBC.

If you booked after 1/16 you likely won't get any refund. If before, then you are before final payment? Can cancel and rebook.

Wow, prices are dropping all over the places this Fall, not exactly last minute but perhaps past free cancellation & refund cutoff dates - regardless of where the ships are sailing from/to ... Next weekend, NYC to Bermuda, RT on Breakaway @ $399 inside p/p + taxes/fees + DSC, etc.

Pacific Coast/repo, South America, not to mention - Europe and even Asia ... on the Star, 11 nights in December SIN-HKG for $429 p/p (inside) that comes to $1,123 with taxes/fees/port charges, plus DSC ... And, doubled up on those Cruise Deposits while it get extended.

Perhaps, guessing, cabins are selling at whatever prices but there's excess # of unsold cabins and the Sales office need to fill them despite what senior management wished for & said otherwise ... vacancies do absolutely nothing when there's no chance of getting any onboard revenue, let alone extra spending. Q3 is ending in about 3 weeks and Wall Street is watching & tracking closely, as prices continued to fall - not just ticket pricing.

Land-based casinos are doing another round of "giveaways" this month as NCL's partner - our friends are out of vacation time this year. Heads must be spinning.

I'm new to NCL, but not to cruising so I understand the whole after final payment deal.

However, I have never, ever, never, ever, had a cruise price go down by 40+ percent, especially more than 60 days out. In the last couple of weeks before a cruise, I'm sure they blue light special the cabins to someone to sail full but, never have I seen this.

My cabin is now $400 less pp and it was booked as a BX. For what I paid, I could have chosen my cabin--not at the time, but now. Also, would never have taken the "promos" since only one of us drinks.

All on me, cry me a river, I know but honestly, they should at least move me to a better location in the spirit of good faith. They have $800 more from us. Move me to a cabin that is $50 more pp.

I will always have a great time on a cruise but if they don't do something with this, it will be the first and last time I go NCL. I think this CEO is a *******.

Your "proclamation" of first and last is short sighted and shooting yourself in the foot. It happens on ALL the cruise lines. Your name calling is "interesting". Prices should stay the same, because you booked ahead? Supply and demand will always trump. Some sailings haven't sold- rates drop to sell space.

You've had your booking well in place, confirmed at a price you thought was fine. My late bookings are my preference, but I have to be fully accepting of NOT going anywhere. I am extremely flexible, many people are not- with their schedules. There is always going to be someone paying less, alternatively- also more. I'll assume you are ok with the rates you book?

OTOH, we are not seeing the same degree of discounts from Carnival, Royal or any of the other cruise lines. Is it because the other lines are trying to hold the line on last minute discounting, or cruisers are staying away from NCL as customer are trying to send a message on the cut back that's happening at NCL.

We thought about cancelling and losing our deposit, but we ended up deciding to still go on our 1st NCL cruise (and probably our last), but we won't be spending a single penny on the cruise. So, they won't be making any money off us. We figured that would send a louder message than cancelling and someone replacing us that would be spending lots of moolah. :D

Do they ever have price drops for the Haven?

Price of Haven for our cruise 9-17-16 has dropped nearly 50% from what it was when we booked in Feb 2015.

It looks like there are some good deals for the Haven if people can sail this month.

Anyone already booked to sail this month non-Haven should call the up-sell dept.

That's a pretty good strategy, I have never thought of that. I did cancelled my cruise on the Jade for December and "jump ship" to the Anthem. As I have a fixed amount of vacation days, I figure I might as well choose a cruise that is more inclusive and I may enjoy more.
