Florings Posted September 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 8, 2016 Automatic - up front. Then it's done and don't have to worry about it!
falkcor Posted September 8, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 8, 2016 auto tips. i don't pre-pay, they will post to your account while onboard automatically (i don't need something else to do up front). i've never touched them. i pay additional tips to those deserving depending. i tend to leave room steward a few 'extra' especially with notes (like please make sure to keep ice, etc.) or give it to them when i make any requests, give bar servers tips at the point of service, and extra to dining room servers etc. during the course of the cruise too. GradUT Posted September 8, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2016 I let it be added to my S&S card and pay it in the following month's credit card statement. I don't like to prepay anything I don't have to.
BellaSweet Posted September 8, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 8, 2016 Pre-pay ahead of time. I don't like ending my cruise with extra charges that could have been taken care of beforehand. Then I just give extra cash to the crew members that were particularly helpful or friendly.
beachbum53 Posted September 8, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 8, 2016 Do you guys pay tips before your cruise or wait until the last day of your cruise? Thanks for info. Mary49 We've done it both ways, but it didn't seem to make any difference in the service we've received. If you don't want to prepay the gratuities, and don't want to leave it on your S&S bill, pay it off with gift cards on the last night of your cruise. Then the charge won't be on your credit card bill. ;)

VASOXFANN Posted September 8, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 8, 2016 Haven't decided yet for this coming-up cruise. It'll depend on how many gift cards I accumulate between now and then :p
JMAE Posted September 9, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 9, 2016 We have the tips added to our S&S card. Plus we provide an extra cash tip on the first and last day of the cruise to the room steward and on the last day to the wait staff.

bakersdozen12 Posted September 10, 2016 #13 Share Posted September 10, 2016 I don't prepay. I feel like that defeats the purpose of it being a tip for good service, which comes after the service is rendered. It needs to be earned. So far, they have always more than earned it, so I have also tipped extra in cash. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

MARAPRINCE I just checked my upcoming cruise. I'm alone in a balcony. My tips are $77.70. I don't even know what the rate is per day for each person. Just checked, only for one person. I guess you would take your S&S card to the Service Desk to have that done? I think I like that idea better.....
