lostfancruiser Posted September 16, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2016 We are sailing on Allure in November. We just switched from a central park view to an ocean view balcony guar. Sept. 9th and got our cabin number yesterday-very quickly! To me it looks like a great location and deck but I'm curious if someone can tell me what the blank space opposite our cabin is. We are on Deck 10, Cabin 10218. The only thing I can think it might be is some kind of crew work area? It show up on Decks 9,10,11,12. My husband thinks it has something to do with a bridge across the ship which appears to be on Deck 14. I just want to know if this is going to be an area that would be noisy with crew going in and out. If anyone has had a cabin on this ship or Oasis in the same area I would appreciate knowing how it was. It is between the two humps. Thank you in advance. Ourusualbeach Posted September 16, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2016 (edited) There is a crew staircase there and there may also be some storage areas for cabin attendants. Edited September 16, 2016 by Ourusualbeach
lostfancruiser Posted September 16, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted September 16, 2016 Thanks for the quick reply Ken. Looks like this will be a good cabin! We were worried we would get something above or below dining room, kitchen, basketball court etc.
ramja96 Posted September 16, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 16, 2016 There is a crew staircase there and there may also be some storage areas for cabin attendants. If it's a crew staircase, you could experience noise issues in the early morning. Sent from my GT-N8013 using Forums mobile app
chengkp75 Posted September 16, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 16, 2016 Crew stairwells and elevators are generally in the same areas as the pax stairs and elevators. Because of the open Central Park area, the typical large A/C fan rooms that run down the center of the ship between inside cabins cannot be there, so I believe these are a combination of steward pantry and A/C fan/duct space. That may be part of that space however there is also a crew stairwell in that space. It was identified as such on the emergency evacuation diagram on the stateroom doors and was listed as an alternate evacuation route.
cb at sea Posted September 17, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 17, 2016 That "space" is on every deck...look at the deck plans. It's nothing that will bother you.
jaspercat Posted September 17, 2016 #8 Share Posted September 17, 2016 Is that not the living wall area? I have no idea what's behind it.
OCruisers Posted September 17, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 17, 2016 Those blank spaces are always a mystery! Since it's across and not next to your cabin, it shouldn't be a problem! :)
artvlay Posted September 18, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 18, 2016 A few years ago we had an experience that the room service prep area wa s in the void. It was quite noisy with carts.
ClearLaker Posted September 18, 2016 #11 Share Posted September 18, 2016 We had a similar experience on the Liberty. The dishwasher and trash disposal area was in that space for our deck. Our hallway was always a mess and it was very noisy at times. :(
jes Scott Posted September 18, 2016 #12 Share Posted September 18, 2016 We loved having that area across from our room and didn't have guest rooms there...it was a station for our steward. He was often in that area and was always friendly, and got anything we needed at a moments notice. Our next cruise there were guest rooms with noisy rude guests.....
