qanderson Posted September 25, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2016 Are you aloud to buy a 6pack or a bottle of wine while in port and drink it in your room over the remainder of the cruise? Or will it be held until the cruise is over? Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

spookwife Posted September 25, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 25, 2016 No you are not allowed to bring alcohol back on during ports calls for immediate consumption unless on a special themed cruise, like the one we were on that cruised CA wine country. And even then you cannot cont on it being permitted Sent from my iPad using Forums

Merion_Mom Posted September 25, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 25, 2016 If they catch it, they will take it and tag it and deliver it to your cabin on the final night of your cruise. If this happens to you, I suggest that you whip out your phone or camera and take a picture, in case they happen to "lose it".
Ocean Dancer Posted September 25, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 25, 2016 I brought on two bottles of Rum Creme in Jamaica, knowing they would be taken and given back the last night. Security had no table set up, and no worker putting your cabin number on your bottles. I was told to take them to any bar., and have them do it. Yeah, right, we just went back to our cabin. This was Anthem in March.
steveru621 Posted September 25, 2016 #8 Share Posted September 25, 2016 (edited) Why wouldn't it be returned? It not really confiscated, they direct you to a table. A crew member will inventory and you get it the night before debarkation. If you try to bring alcohol on board when you checkin at the beginning of the cruise, it may be confiscated. I've never heard of that happening in a port. Edited September 25, 2016 by steveru621

Rare silentbob007 Posted September 26, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 26, 2016 If I'm asked I'll check it. If I'm not, it goes back to my room with me. Sometimes they are strict. Sometimes they are not.
Doug S Posted September 26, 2016 #11 Share Posted September 26, 2016 We have gotten a signed itemized receipt whenever we have had it collected in ports. You can take a pic if you miss seeing it as you sail, but never been necessary for us.

Thanks for the heads up, but if they wanted my booze, a table should have been there for that purpose. I do not think it's up to me to find a bar. All we wanted to do was go back to our cabin and take a shower. The bottles remained wrapped and bagged on our sofa until we packed to to home. We had the drink package anyway! If no table is set up expressly for the purpose of tagging bottles and giving receipts, their problem, not mine. Same here. I will not lie but why would I volunteer to tell them that I have one. They are not so strict when coming from port.

Rare Lionesss Posted September 26, 2016 #16 Share Posted September 26, 2016 My experience was a little different. Returning from Cozumel I purchased 4 bottles of vanilla. When my bag went thru the scanner to board the ship the attendant grabbed my bag and escorted me to another table where a security bag goes is this your bag.........................I said yes and it has vanilla in it. He proceeds to take everything out and goes, you have bottles of vanilla. I go, yes. He goes thank you. So they do look and search. Just saying

I've never heard of that happening in a port. At the beginning of the cruise you may bring on two 750ml bottles of wine for use on the cruise. At the ports they are usually there to take the liquor and hold it for you.
