Do Platinum guests get escorted to gangway on non tender islands?

Recommended Posts

I agree. I am totally not rich. I just choose cruising Carnival the most as my vacations. I don't go out and spend money on other things, I save for cruises. I also don't demand that I get escorted off the ship in front of others, but rather take advantage of a benefit that I have EARNED. Had no problem doing it with FTTF, either.

Platinum hasn't changed me, or made be better than anyone else. It has however showed me that Carnival at least appreciates me continuing to do business with them. Much more so than when I was Gold. I do admit that I was VERY salty when they took the past guest party away as well as making the drink coupon for the last night only. Now I feel like they are maybe making up for it.

We earned it by cruising with them, just wish they would improve entertainment. Lately cruising more with Princess.

or better yet, move the photographers away from the gangway so that the passengers could get off the ship quicker. Of course, most people would avoid the photographers altogether if they did that.

this.

This.

A thousand times this.

I don't like Playlist or Hasbro. I used to love eating dinner than going to the shows. Now it's kind of boring in the evening.

The original playlists were awful, have gotten somewhat better with Epic Rock being a pretty good show. However considering they did Ticket to Ride they have gone way downhill.

Hasbro would be a great thing in the afternoon if you were about 10 years old. For adult entertainment in the evening, pathetic.

Agree. I caught the end of it one night and the little kid won. Who could have ever predicted that? [emoji849]

You do realize that Plats and Diamonds have spent a lot of money with the company earning their status. Why the hostility?

Not necessarily. I'm sure there are many Plats who did little 3 night cruises in 1A cabins under the old system and they would have spent precious few dollars to obtain their Plat status.

Since the changes for that are years ago, it is safe to say the majority of plats earned their stripes...... We have 240 days on Carnival ships.

Could be. Especially the ones that lived in Florida and could take quick, weekend cruises. My mom met a lady like that on our Liberty cruise.

At least now it's more difficult to get and I feel like I have truly earned my place. The only thing that I can hope for is that if/when they change the program, that they grandfather in those of us that actually had to get there the "hard"way. But I'm not holding my breath.

They are going to change right before the cruise where you will get there......

Living in Florida sure does not hurt, hope to get there soon....esp with snow today.

We winter in Florida (We are retired) and that is why all my cruises happen in the winter. However, we are at 87 days and 40 more days booked for this winter. As for the people that took short cruises to get there platinum. We get put in that category at times talking to people because we are 45 years old and most platinum and diamond are much older. I do meet some Plat and Diamond that do think they are just gods on the water and we just laugh at them.

John H. on Facebook today made a comment that they are thinking about a new category between Diamond and Plat or one above Diamond.

I agree, most probably have. But even 100+ nights in 4A cabins would be significantly cheaper than 50 nights in balconies and suites. All I'm pointing out is the false logic that just because someone is a Plat that they have spent significantly more money with Carnival than non-Plats. No one really knows but some here are trying to pass off that logic as fact. As for me personally, I'm close to Plat and almost all of my cruises have been in inside cabins and I know many who have spent more than me staying in suites but have far fewer nights than I do. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt they have spent way more.

Either way, if you make it to Platinum by days, chances are you've spent a decent amount of cash. This isn't a peeing match on who has spent the most. Carnival goes by days now and not $ amount, so that's what matters. Since they are rewarding loyalty, not dollars spent, it makes no difference to me if I or the other people cruised 75 days in an inside, a suite, or anything in between (I've been in them all multiple times except a suite). It's all the same whether some feel this way is right or wrong.

So let's just say Platinum and Diamond members have a lot of TIME invested in Carnival instead of money. Sound better?

Sorry, I could not help it...... There probably will be a post oh JH FB page saying there is rumor over here that Platinum is now 125 days.....

Or he will read it here and make up a story about this. He has done that before.

No question he is belittled by people here but he does bring some of it on himself.

Not jealous, just tired of the whole "Oooh, I'm rich, someone escort me off the ship ahead of these common people, and peel me a grape while you're at it..." [emoji13]

I am Plat & my wife is diamond. Our highest annual income did not reach 50k and many were closer to 25k. We have been on Social Security for the last six years but we worked hard and saved. Not rich by any means.

Never understood why people think that those of us who cruise a lot have to be rich?

Yep, lots of time invested. I think we have cruised together before, or I just remembered your name. Maybe on the Conquest in 2014.

For the post that started the thread:

Yes they have walked me to the front of the line for tenders in the past. I have mobility problems. But I asked for special treatment before I was platinum.

Well said.

Yep, I just cruised with some that live in mobile homes. They had rather have travel experiences than a big house. We all get to spend our money how we want. It's grand!
