Do Platinum guests get escorted to gangway on non tender islands?

Recommended Posts

Yep, lots of time invested. I think we have cruised together before, or I just remembered your name. Maybe on the Conquest in 2014.

If it was in January, then it very well could have been. That was my worst cruise ever because I got food poisoning during the wee hours of the morning before we pulled into Puerto Rico. It was NOT fun!

Either way, if you make it to Platinum by days, chances are you've spent a decent amount of cash. This isn't a peeing match on who has spent the most. Carnival goes by days now and not $ amount, so that's what matters. Since they are rewarding loyalty, not dollars spent, it makes no difference to me if I or the other people cruised 75 days in an inside, a suite, or anything in between (I've been in them all multiple times except a suite). It's all the same whether some feel this way is right or wrong.

So let's just say Platinum and Diamond members have a lot of TIME invested in Carnival instead of money. Sound better?

Not sure if I came off incorrectly. I'm not irritated by anyone who has acquired Plat, I congratulate them and the perks they have earned. If I didn't go on different lines I would already be Plat as well (118 nights at sea spread among 5 cruise lines). I just dislike people stating their opinions as if they were fact. I'm apologize if you and Jimbo took my statements as being derogatory towards Plats.

I didn't take it as derogatory at all as a Platinum member particularly because I don't consider myself to be in a different class because of my card color. I look at it as strictly perks. Some of which I used to have to pay $50/$60 for and I now get for free. Makes me no better than Golds, Reds, or Blues. Also makes me no less than Diamonds. It does however make me happy that I can save that extra cash now.

I didn't see where it was stated as gospel that the higher tiers collectively spent more money than others, but it is pretty safe to say that on the average, it's probably accurate. Of course not in all cases, but I'm sure in many.

I am glad that you now actually have to "do the time" to earn the better perks. I would not like to see it based upon dollars spent. After all they are for LOYALTY, not spending.

I am thankful that I have had the opportunity to cruise frequently and it still gets me about the "rich" comment. I'm smart with my money, that's all. I don't know why some people have to begrudge those that work hard, spend their money wisely, and earn certain things. Perhaps if they did the same, they could too instead of making blanket statements thinking that those with Platinum or Diamond cards actually look down upon others. The majority of us don't. The ones that do are the people that have issues in everyday life and are insecure and to begin with.

John H. on Facebook today made a comment that they are thinking about a new category between Diamond and Plat or one above Diamond.

Oh no no no!! Been working my booty off to make Diamond. I will be 41 days to go after next weeks cruise. I got to Plat the hard way and it would really stink if they put a level in between diamond and platinum if say they increased the days to Diamond. Ugh!

Took us a long time to reach Diamond and a level higher than Diamond probably would not be reachable for us.

What if I'm Platinum but want to BE an escort? Hey, these cruises don't pay for themselves [emoji39]

Is it a cruising myth that some lines, possibly Holland, possibly some European lines, still give discounts to single men of a certain age?

Used to be called dance partners, maybe now just conversation company. Men past 80 are so outnumbered by the stronger gender that special fares are used to entice them aboard?

No idea. You tell me! The only way I would consider a guy over 80 is if he has a bad cough and a nice bank account with no heirs :D

Not sure about P&O but HAL does not do that. Pretty sure Costa and MSC don't either.

I just googled cruise dance partners and saw: Travel and Leisure mag, CNN, Wikipedia and abcnews all have links to stories on this subject, even citing the practice on QE2!

Took me 28 cruises in 13 years to get to Diamond, If they put in a higher loyalty level, what would be the additional perks they would offer? Or would they take some away from Diamond and switch them to the new advanced level (Uranium?)

Based on last time double diamond would get what we have now and they would take away some diamond stuff.
