Do Platinum guests get escorted to gangway on non tender islands?

Recommended Posts

After reading through all of the comments about "status" I had to laugh. Yesterday on FB, John posted a picture of a letter that he got from a woman. It said that she was in the casino, had spent $100 on a slot machine and decided to go to the bathroom. She left her frozen drink at the machine. When she returned, someone else was playing "her" machine and had just won $282. She was demanding that Carnival give her the $282 because she had left her drink there to save the machine had already spent $100 on it and that she was Diamond and deserved to be compensated because it was her money that he won.

I read through 50 odd replies out of the 758 that were there. All said the same thing. Leaving a drink by a machine does not save it and just because you are Diamond doesn't give you the right to demand anything. The whole thing was quite funny.

Was not her machine and she doesnt deserve any compensation. Being Diamond does not help her cause just makes her a good customer.

That was another funny part. Most people that responded said that there is always a drink sitting by a slot machine that somebody left there.

Most of them will have cigarettes stuffed in them .

I know platinum guests can go to guest services and be escorted down to the tender boat and skip the tender ticket process. My question is do platinum guests get escorted to gangway on non tender islands?

The reason I ask is on our last cruise another platinum guest saw us waiting in line on the stairs (like we always do) and told us to follow them to guest services. We politely declined and off they went. We didn't see them again so I didn't get the chance to ask them about this. I have never heard of this on non tender islands. Has anybody else heard of this?

It's not that difficult to walk off the ship by yourself. Next thing you'll be asking for is an escort to the restroom

I didn't take it as derogatory at all as a Platinum member particularly because I don't consider myself to be in a different class because of my card color. I look at it as strictly perks. Some of which I used to have to pay $50/$60 for and I now get for free. Makes me no better than Golds, Reds, or Blues. Also makes me no less than Diamonds. It does however make me happy that I can save that extra cash now.

I didn't see where it was stated as gospel that the higher tiers collectively spent more money than others, but it is pretty safe to say that on the average, it's probably accurate. Of course not in all cases, but I'm sure in many.

I am glad that you now actually have to "do the time" to earn the better perks. I would not like to see it based upon dollars spent. After all they are for LOYALTY, not spending.

I am thankful that I have had the opportunity to cruise frequently and it still gets me about the "rich" comment. I'm smart with my money, that's all. I don't know why some people have to begrudge those that work hard, spend their money wisely, and earn certain things. Perhaps if they did the same, they could too instead of making blanket statements thinking that those with Platinum or Diamond cards actually look down upon others. The majority of us don't. The ones that do are the people that have issues in everyday life and are insecure and to begin with.

Good post!:)
