Do Platinum guests get escorted to gangway on non tender islands?

Recommended Posts

As a Diamond I was offered that option on our cruise on the Liberty last month. There was a letter in the cabin telling me where and when to meet to get an escort off the ship. Both ports were docked (Cozumel and Progreso).

We did not use the service as the times were right after arrival in port and we were in no rush to get off. We had a nice leisurely breakfast in the dining room, went back to our cabin to change into bathing suits and then headed to the beach. There was no line by the time we got down to the gangway.

Interesting, when I brought it up it was a joke. Sounds like a great idea.

Didnt know they did that. We prefer to get to beaches early before it gets too hot.

Probably too many Platinums to do this but it would be a great Diamond benefit.

I know platinum guests can go to guest services and be escorted down to the tender boat and skip the tender ticket process. My question is do platinum guests get escorted to gangway on non tender islands?

The reason I ask is on our last cruise another platinum guest saw us waiting in line on the stairs (like we always do) and told us to follow them to guest services. We politely declined and off they went. We didn't see them again so I didn't get the chance to ask them about this. I have never heard of this on non tender islands. Has anybody else heard of this?

What would be the point?

So, do P/Ds expect to have someone in the MDR to chew their food for them? Or wipe their behinds?

Not really, just burp me after a nice warm glass of milk at bedtime. I'm good to go ;)

Some people are just jealous of diamonds and plats.:(

It is a perk, like many others in the professional world. Sometimes some have issues seeing others get these. I have never thrown any perks in others faces, (not sure this was implied or not), but as my friend states, we have spent a lot of money to earn these and I enjoy being recognized by the vendor for doing so.

Recently was flying from LaGuardia and was paged to the counter as boarding was just beginning. There were others standing in line and she saw me and waived me up (to get my free upgrade to 1st class for the wife and I). As I walked up there a man standing in line says loudly "buddy the line is back here" and before I can respond the person at the desk says I waived him up sir, but please how can I help you. He asks if his is getting an upgrade ...she looks at the list and says I don't see that happening today and as he grumpily starts to leave says loudly to me here are your upgrades, we at Delta appreciate your business.

Took about 25 cruises on CCL to get to Diamond and not going to be embarrased to say we enjoy our perks and would be happy to get a few more.

Have to admit I am really enjoying looking at my newly acquired Platinum card. It's just so pretty. Maybe because I'm so sick of the Gold one which I've had since like 2004 [emoji849]. It was also super sweet that I didn't have to pay for FTTF.

Nothing wrong with loyalty benefits. I have them for the hotels I stay at too. It's nice to be upgraded to a better room for free.

Loyalty perks are a good business incentive for the company issuing them. I am not embarassed by using them, I have earned them through repeated purchases of that company's product.

To date, I have redeemed almost 3 million freq flyer miles on the 2 airlines that I mainly choose to fly. That's a heck of a lot of free flying, which made more frequent cruising and other vacations possible.

Best score was to fly non stop from JFK to Papeete first class on Air Tahiti Nui for our 2nd Tahitian vacation. I clip grocery coupons too. There are many legit ways to save a buck.

Not jealous, just tired of the whole "Oooh, I'm rich, someone escort me off the ship ahead of these common people, and peel me a grape while you're at it..." [emoji13]

I agree. I am totally not rich. I just choose cruising Carnival the most as my vacations. I don't go out and spend money on other things, I save for cruises. I also don't demand that I get escorted off the ship in front of others, but rather take advantage of a benefit that I have EARNED. Had no problem doing it with FTTF, either.

Platinum hasn't changed me, or made be better than anyone else. It has however showed me that Carnival at least appreciates me continuing to do business with them. Much more so than when I was Gold. I do admit that I was VERY salty when they took the past guest party away as well as making the drink coupon for the last night only. Now I feel like they are maybe making up for it.
