RIP - Parmesan basket with fettuccine alfredo in MDR

That wasn't the case last October on the Crown when I asked for the fettuccini as a main course. Hope Princess had a change of mind since so many passengers were disappointed. I enjoyed it with the basket as a main course when nothing else on the menu was to my liking.

We were on the Crown in Nov and Dec and DH got the basket a couple of times. You have to request it the day before you want it.

Send a quick email to Princess requesting that they bring this back! I just did...but the more requests they get the better!! You could also call, or write a letter. Provide feedback to the cruise ship staff as well. I just got off of a cruise and heard that many are disappointed that the parmasean basket has been eliminated. Power in numbers!!! Provide your feedback to Princess...perhaps we can get this "Signature" favorite back. How could they take a signature dish and eliminate one of the key elements that makes it "Signature"??

I suppose they figure the newbies won't miss it, and us old-timers will get over it, like everything else that has been cut back over the years.

Things I have not gotten over yet:

o Loss of welcome cookies in your cabin on embarkation day

o Loss of fresh made crepes during the Champagne Waterfall activity

o Loss of sesame seeds on breadsticks in the dining room

o Loss of Godiva chocolate piece on top of the Love Boat Dream dessert

o Loss of chocolate covered strawberries as a choice for elites on formal evenings

I had forgotten about some of those! Other lines have cut back, too. HAL used to have white-gloved attendants greet you at the gangway on embarkation, take your carry-on luggage and escort you personally to your cabin. They also had crew talent shows, theme dinners (everyone wearing Dutch hats one night), a real baked Alaska waiter parade and midnight chocolate buffets. All gone now.

Even with the loss of some things, there have been some replacements to make up for it.

  • Truffles (last year in the Piazza, now in the afternoon in the Horizon occasionally)

  • Chocolate cover fruit in the Horizon.

  • Norman Love desserts in the DR

Things I have gotten over (but still remember):

o Red, white and blue balloons on the dining room tables the last evening, calling the dinner an American one

o Three balloons on a cabin door for celebrations instead of the two that are there now (I predict it will go down to one at some point).

o The celebration balloons being specific (birthday, anniversary, just married, just retired) instead of only the word "celebrate".

o OBC with a Future Cruise Certificate being the same for an oceanview cabin as for a balcony cabin.

o On deck buffet the evening of the deck party

o Live band (not recorded) at every production show

And more that I have not gotten over yet:

o Shows in the Princess Theater being about 50 minutes long instead of just over 30 minutes.

o Most evenings having a show or guest entertainers in both the Princess Theater and in the Explorers Lounge.

Completely agree, in fact now you mention chocolate strawberries, we never even got the order form for formal night canopies
