diy dave Posted November 18, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 18, 2016 Hi, we're off on carnival Spirit next week, and was wondering if they sell ipads in the duty free shops ? Got garandkids going into high school next year and they have to have them.

Aus Traveller Posted November 18, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 18, 2016 Hi, we're off on carnival Spirit next week, and was wondering if they sell ipads in the duty free shops ? Got garandkids going into high school next year and they have to have them. You can save the GST component of the purchase by using the Traveller Refund Scheme. Buy an item or items over $300 (on one invoice) within 60 days of travelling. Show the items and the receipt at the TRS desk before boarding the ship and a refund of the GST amount will be credited to your credit card. GUT2407 Posted November 18, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 18, 2016 Don't think they sell them on board, buy before you go.
Kamloops50 Posted November 18, 2016 #5 Share Posted November 18, 2016 Cruises line that are owned by Carnival don't sell any Apple products on board . They are affiliated with Microsoft. Celebrity sells some Apple products on board . Prices aren't any better than buying from a Big Box Retailer.

PerfectlyPerth Posted November 19, 2016 #7 Share Posted November 19, 2016 Yes much easier to just buy in Aus on an Aus warranty and claim the tax on the TRS scheme - its immediately in your bank account the same day.
Rare MicCanberra Posted November 19, 2016 #8 Share Posted November 19, 2016 Lately. I have found that the duty free prices on board have not been that great compared to sales in some chain shops.
The_Big_M Posted November 20, 2016 #9 Share Posted November 20, 2016 Lately. I have found that the duty free prices on board have not been that great compared to sales in some chain shops. Same, though RCL and Celebrity are targeting a more upmarket shopper now - less concerned with low prices. As just the most recent example, the addition of a Tiffany's shop onboard Solstice.
