cruising_Bif Posted November 22, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 22, 2016 I'm sailing on the Getaway early next year. In anticipation, I've been looking at pictures and videos online. I'm very excited! The ship looks shiny and beautiful. My only complaint from what I've seen is the ample use of hot pink carpets in public areas (seems to be concentrated in stairwells and elevator bays). Not my color of choice! Is it as loud and off-putting in person as I think it is online? And don't give me any grief over this post- it isn't a major concern and won't make or break my cruise- I'm just making conversation. :D

Rare blackwing Posted November 22, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 22, 2016 And here I thought this post was going to be about a musical group called "Pink Carpets". Or a drink. I didn't even notice the carpets. If you discover once you are on board that they are blindingly offensive to you, you could always wear sunglasses. Or get a wheelchair, close your eyes, and have a travelling companion push you quickly through the offending areas. I would rather be on a cruise with puke-colored carpets than sitting at my desk in my office at work any day. :)
murph1031 Posted November 22, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 22, 2016 Just off the getaway this weekend. I didn't notice the color of the carpet. But I will say the ship is beautiful. This was our first time on NCL, all our other cruises have been with carnival. I found the Getaway way some stylist than any of the carnival ships, beautiful everywhere, nothing flashy. Jaco5NC Posted November 23, 2016 #9 Share Posted November 23, 2016 The Getaway decor is beautiful and the carpets were never off-putting for us at all. (I love interior design so I notice these things). I think you will be pleasantly surprised, it's truly a gorgeous ship! Can't wait to sail her again in April :)!! stickey_mouse Posted November 30, 2016 #10 Share Posted November 30, 2016 That's funny, I also noticed the abundance of hot pink carpeting in the various photos/videos. It didn't bother me, but I did notice it!

ja2nowak Posted November 30, 2016 #12 Share Posted November 30, 2016 UBP easily solves such "issues". :D This! But really, I guess I didn't notice. I'm also going to be on it for 16 days in April so now I'll notice for sure. :/ But the UBP cures all.
timf2001 Posted November 30, 2016 #13 Share Posted November 30, 2016 The pink carpet is only in the stairwells and landings. It makes them stand out but doesn't detract from the overall decor.

anonmom Posted January 12, 2017 #19 Share Posted January 12, 2017 I feel like cruise ships, casinos & brothels can get away with decor that would look tacky in other settings. I'll be on those hot pink carpets on Sunday and I just can't wait! 😎 Sent from my Nexus 5X using Forums mobile app
traveler1255 Posted January 16, 2017 #20 Share Posted January 16, 2017 I don't remember pink carpets. One thing to note: Some carpets have fishes on them. They are swimming towards the forward end of the ship.
TrpngBilly Posted January 19, 2017 #21 Share Posted January 19, 2017 Pink is a color that has been proven to lower aggression levels. Perhaps NCL is trying to unconsciously calm everyone down for their cruise vacation. Or, the designer just liked pink.
