jdshaw1000 Posted December 4, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 4, 2016 In February we are taking our first cruise (Regal Princess) under Medicare A,B,D), plus Supplemental Plan F. "F" does cover international hospital expenses (limited), and doesn't cover ship doctor expenses or emergency medical evacuation. Looking for advice regarding a reputable company/plan that specializes in filling this common specific need. Thanks.

DragonflyCruiser Posted December 4, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 4, 2016 Try posting this on the ask a question/cruise insurance board. We use MedJet....look them up and compare to the plans AMEX offers. You can get t discount with AARP on the MedJet site. If over 75 years old you will need you Dr to sign the form otherwise you just fill it out yourself. Both of us are on Medicare. Hope this helps. Not an advertisement for the company but just personal experience.

skynight Posted December 4, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 4, 2016 Purchase travel insurance. It's about 8% of the fare. You can purchase from Princess or from other companies. The cost of getting ill outside of the U.S. can be expensive and not only include Dr. and hospital costs, but evacuation, hotel costs for those that are not sick, airfare back home, which could be medical airfare. Plus then you have all the family emergencies, like illness and deaths in the family, which are not covered by plan F. It's worth it.

cb at sea Posted December 5, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 5, 2016 It will NOT cover you out of the country. It "might" reimburse you for some charges, but travel medical isn't a bad idea, especially if you have "issues"!
