meh56 Posted December 16, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 16, 2016 Last summer on the Grand the buffet offered wine to purchase. I think they were just splits for $5. We are sailing on Ruby in Jan, does anyone know if they still offer these at the buffet during dinner.

meh56 Posted December 16, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted December 16, 2016 One other question...is there any advantage to buying the beer and soda package ahead of time or is it about the same as if you buy it when you board?
skynight Posted December 16, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 16, 2016 One other question...is there any advantage to buying the beer and soda package ahead of time or is it about the same as if you buy it when you board? Soda Package is the same price pre-purchased or purchased on board. If pre-purchased your cruise card should have the sticker on it when you board. 5 for 4 beer packages are also sold on board. Selections my not be the same on all ships. You can also go to the afternoon & late evening happy hours and purchase one beer and get the second for $1. Ask for the second not to be opened and you can put it in your cabin fridge.

The same, there is no advantage.
reedprincess Posted December 16, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 16, 2016 Prices for packages are the same onboard or in advance. Advantage to buying onboard - you can apply your inboard credits. Yes, the small bottles of wine (Yellow Tail or something like that I think, and a couple different konds) are available in Horizon Court. Really handy and decent wine. They are around $6 or $7 I think, and give at least 2 decent pours. Perfect for taking back to the cabin for a drink on your balcony or such. And, Yes, they are covered by the all-inclusive beverage package too, for those interested... Happy sails.
jasbo49 Posted December 17, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 17, 2016 I asked for the $5 splits in September on the Regal and was told that was a special promotion that is no longer running. They were still available, but more like $10, I think. Jim
DougandEric Posted December 17, 2016 #8 Share Posted December 17, 2016 Be aware that if you purchase liquor/beer/wine/drink package while in port, you may be charged tax on that purchase until the ship sails. The drinks we bought at lunch and during sail away incurred CA tax in November.
Thrak Posted December 17, 2016 #9 Share Posted December 17, 2016 It's nice to hear there are the small bottles available in HC - both the Yellowtail and the Korbel. While Korbel is definitely not a great "champagne" it works quite well for Mimosas and would greatly enhance room service OJ. :) We have the AIBP (as a perk) on our next two cruises so this is useful to know. Wine at Vines will be nicer but, for in-room use, this seems to be a viable option. Given the Princess policy of 1 "free" bottle per person no matter how long the cruise this could definitely be useful on our 28 day cruise next year.
