Obc

Can anyone advise us on what we can spend OBC awarded by a Travel Agent?

e.g. can it be spent in the Casino, or towards the daily gratuities.

Can you still remove daily gratuities and tip in your own way?

Not saying we are going to do it but, would like to know.

Thanks

The best person to ask is your travel agent.

It depends whether the OBC is refundable or non refundable. If it is non refundable then it. Any be used for gratuities. Only your travel agent will be able to confirm what sort your OBC is.

Removing gratuities is apparently a bit more effort now. Forms to fill in and then get refunded after the cruise. I'm not going to comment on the rights of wrongs of doing it. I'll just say that I don't understand why anyone would want to mess around with that while on holiday when a system is in place that does it for you.

Agree with the above.

On our cruise a few weeks ago, we had obc from our TA. On our paperwork it stated we had 2 obc's, one was refundable and on was non-refundable. The refundable we could use for anything, gratuities, casino, shopping, etc. The non- refundable could not be used in the casino or for gratuities, it could be used for everything else though.

If it is non-refundable you apparently cannot use it towards the DSC, but you may be able to use it in the casino. If you booked with NCL in the UK, then your gratuities may be £8.50pppd which is a much better deal than paying $13.95 onboard given the post Brexit vote exchange rate.

On our last cruise we had a shed load of OBC, and withdrew it in cash from the casino. Otherwise we would need to have waited weeks for NCL to send a USD cheque to our home address, you pay a 3% fee for cash in casino.

You cannot now remove daily gratuities, but can ask for a form at guest relations to send/email to NCL once you return home. Many have reported it takes months to be refunded to your account....much simpler to use the NCL system of DSC, rather than "tip in your own way"!;)
