Laurie S. Posted January 16, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2017 The last time we flew out of LAX overseas was almost three years ago and my memory is fuzzy. Isn't there a shuttle that you take with your luggage from a domestic airline terminal to the international one? We'll be flying in on Southwest and then going on Philippines Air. Is it too far to walk between those terminals with luggage?
fbgd Posted January 16, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2017 You can look this up online easily. The LAX terminals are in a horseshoe. WN arrive into Terminal 1 and PR fly from Tom Bradley International Terminal which is at the end of the horeshoe. It's about 750yrds between the two. What luggage you have and your mobility of course I don't know. There is a bus service that runs around the terminals. Personally, I walk between the terminals at LAX cutting through the parking garages in the centre area if need be.
Laurie S. Posted January 16, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted January 16, 2017 Thanks, I can easily handle that distance, not sure about my husband. We're hauling two large bags each, two of which are for dive equipment.
purduemom1 Posted January 17, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2017 If you can handle the walk with luggage it will probably be faster than the shuttle. Traffic circling LAX is usually heavy and SLOW.
Laurie S. Posted January 17, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted January 17, 2017 I remember that, but we will have about six hours between flights. One way to kill time! LOL
cruise kitty Posted January 19, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 19, 2017 LAX is currently under major renovations/construction... as long a you're mobile enough, you'll probably get around on foot faster that by shuttle... you should be able to just grab a luggage trolley to help with your luggage. Southwest is near the airport entrance & Bradley (international) is at the end of U... if you walk really, really slowly it's 15 minutes... it's not all covered though, so if you're coming in the next week, we've got some much needed rain. :)
Rare FlyerTalker Posted January 19, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 19, 2017 it's not all covered though, so if you're coming in the next week, we've got some much needed rain. :) I could be wrong, but I believe it is covered for the entire way on the lower level (since there's the upper roadway above). There are uncovered gaps on the upper.
Laurie S. Posted January 19, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted January 19, 2017 Thanks, not going until late November. Sounds like walking is the way to go. Considering it's a 15-hour flight we'll be on, a little exercise will be good.

anthonyy7 Posted January 27, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 27, 2017 It's a good 15-20 min walk. We usually hop over from LAS on Southwest then do the walk down to TBIT to check in. It's not the walk I mind but the re-entry through security, etc... and TBIT doesn't use TSA precheck.
Rare FlyerTalker Posted January 28, 2017 #11 Share Posted January 28, 2017 and TBIT doesn't use TSA precheck. Given that PreCheck has been expanded to 30 airlines (up from 19), that may not be accurate in the near to medium future. Definitely will change in several years according to informed sources I've read.
