bananavan Posted April 3, 2017 #151 Share Posted April 3, 2017 Roscoe, Thank you for your wonderful postings. I have learned so much from everything that you and Safari gal have posted. I believe that SafariGal is planning to be on part of next year's QE WC. I look forward to meeting you. Thank you as well for all the great information that you shared with us. I plan to blog next year's WC from San Francisco to Southampton. I will never be able to keep up with the wonderful postings that both of you have shared but I promise to try. safarigal Posted April 3, 2017 #152 Share Posted April 3, 2017 there are some sore heads on the ship this morning and not because the ship was pumping full of parties and bands and shows, it was the tempest we sailed through. Ive heard of people been thrown out of bed during the night, there were certainly some incredible bangs and being up the front we copped the lot. Im sorry for the others, but I loved it... we are now safely docked in San Francisco, it was a beautiful dawn to a calm harbour, hard to believe it was so rough just out the other side of the bridge. No sign of safrigal.....hope she made it. Luckily we were in a steel ship and not one made of a VC box. One of those loud bangs came from the Commodore Club - just as a couple of friends and I got up to sing along, the ship lurched and we lost our balance, sending the drinks on the table flying to the floor. Luckily I had the presence of mind to save my Milky Way Martini - the only drink that survived. Lots of liquids all over the men and broken glass. Also lots of people staring at us. It was very bouncy in the Commodore Club last night, but fun. Beautiful time sailing into San Francisco this morning - great city! It's the World Cruise Dinner tonight, at the City Hall. Should be interesting! I hope to see Roscoe to bid him farewell before he disembarks. He certainly adds a bit of flair to the cruise.
theTom&Carol Posted April 3, 2017 #153 Share Posted April 3, 2017 ......I hope to see Roscoe to bid him farewell before he disembarks. He certainly adds a bit of flair to the cruise. That quote by one of Roscoe's many fans leads me to say… Social butterfly that he is, certainly loved by all, adding a grand amount of Cunard flair and intrigue ...... Roscoe should to be on the 2018 WC. That said, one of you with Internet crowdfunding prowess might pursue setting up the official "Roscoe commemorative 2018 world cruise fund". Establish the funding link, donate, and make Our Roscoe "Float" again in high Q1 style. See if we can drag him back aboard, up the gangplank, kicking and screaming all the way. All done for your good, Roscoe. But you must promise to dance at least one dance nightly with one of your benefactors. You can do it! Now, see if we can do it? kahtrav Posted April 4, 2017 #156 Share Posted April 4, 2017 It should be the second day - they wouldn't want to have empty cabins for a night.
happydays42 Posted April 5, 2017 #157 Share Posted April 5, 2017 Well sadly we disembarked QV this morning in SFO after an excellent voyage from Sydney. It was indeed a pleasure to meet and chat with Safarigal and her husband. Met some amazing people, and if l had any regrets it was drinking too many 'Cosmopolitans' in the Commodore Club and Hemispheres. But, there again, how can that be a regret. Rare roscoe39 Posted April 5, 2017 Author #158 Share Posted April 5, 2017 shux thanks guys, but its not me, the Queen Victoria seems to bring about the nest in all of us. Looked desperately for Safrigal yesterday and today before I got off at 3pm, alas, she was off doing better things. unfortunately this year I wasn't at the World Cruise Party, I did have plans with the caterer to let me wine waiter but plans fell through when they realised i was a plant, but it was from all accounts the best WC dinner yet and again the QV is sporting lots of sore heads today. As she departs gorgeous San Francisco tonight, to all its new passengers, old passengers and crew/staff....thanks and fair winds "She shall grow not old, as we that are left on land grow old: Age shall not weary her, nor the bean counters condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning from land, We will remember her".
kahtrav Posted April 5, 2017 #159 Share Posted April 5, 2017 Roscoe (and Safarigal) Thanks so much for taking us along on your voyage again this year. We happened to fly into San Francisco today for a short break and realized you we're in the city. We could just barely see the QV and her red stack thru the haze from the Golden Gate Bridge as we headed north. I suspect she's about to head out under the Gate soon. We hope to sail part of the WC in 2019 :-).
safarigal Posted April 5, 2017 #160 Share Posted April 5, 2017 We have just sailed out of San Francisco after 2 fabulous days there - perfect weather, great food, good sightseeing. I'm sorry I didn't get to see Roscoe before he disembarked. Also sorry that his plans fell through to gate crash the world cruise party. The party was absolutely wonderful - they ended up throwing us out because we had clearly overstayed our welcome. We were on the last bus back to the ship - there was much singing on the trip back. Cunard really do need to be congratulated on putting together such a splendid do.

Sounds like we missed a lot of fun

safarigal Posted April 6, 2017 #163 Share Posted April 6, 2017 Safarigal and her husband disembarked today in Los Angeles. Sorry to see the end of her blog for this year! Yes alas - they threw us off the ship today, and we are are at LAX waiting for our plane home. This is leading to extreme culture shock - I am clearly not ready for the hustle and bustle of the real world yet - I want to retreat to my balcony. It really has been a trip of a life time - I wish we could have stayed on until Southampton, but duty calls and we will be back at work next week. I totally recommend doing a long cruise if you can, it was awfully expensive, but worth every penny! I hope that those lucky passengers still on the ship will keep this thread going It would be great to see how things are on board our beautiful QV :)
