Weather Question

Hello everyone!

We are leaving on the Gem on 10/31 out of NYC to the Caribbean for 11 nights. We have 3 at sea days before our first stop. I know it doesn't actually take 3 days to get there and they slow the boat down for more sea time. My question is, how long before we are in warm weather? Was curious if our first sea day would still be NY like weather or if we'd already been in warmer climate. Thanks for your help:cool:

Unless there's an unusual cold weather front, afternoon of first seaday will put you around the Carolinas and good for shorts. Hot tubs are heated so morning is fine for that. Only rough seas would pose problems for the outdoor. Day 3 is definitely warm.

  • 4 months later...

We are looking at going on the same cruise (10/31) and have never done a cruise this long.

1) Do they doing anything special for Halloween?

2) How do they fill all the nights with entertainment/shows?

3) Since this is a smaller ship, is there enough stuff on board to

keep us entertained for 11 days?

4) Which islands do we have to Tender to?

5) Are there beaches within walking distance of the ship?

Thanks

I'll be on the Escape during halloween.

Pretty sure they will have decorations, theme party and something for the kids.

As for the weather from NY End of October....Cold.. Until you gt more southern.

So pack some warmer clothes for the first few days, then you can switch. But you'll get great views of NY!

Not necessarily, we've had some halloweens that have been hot, and most years, a hoody at most is needed. The majority of years my kids have trick or treated without jackets.

The boat moves quickly the first day to get you to warm weather...then it slows down a little. You should wake up off the coast of the Carolinas. We have cruised out of NY in November twice. Only the first day and the very last night have I ever felt cold. I'm looking at Escape November 2018 now :)
