What's your NCL cruise traditions? :ship:

It could be something you have to do every time you board an NCL ship.<3

Or... something you must see... something you must eat... something you can't miss... a picture you must take?

OK.... go. :D

Boarding Photo is a must.

Once we had to beg a photographer on the Jewel to get the green screen, due to being late on to the ship due to circumstances out of our control. We got it though!

Not just on NCL but all ships, play the thyme to Love Boat while sailing away the first day. We're usually on our balcony and I play the song from my phone. Our first cruise was while that show was on TV.

My tradition on every ship I've sailed is a glass of sparkling wine every night before dinner. Usually I use it as my quiet time alone to just watch the waves go by!

I also refuse to use the elevators (in order to work off all that wine and food). I've only ever taken 2 elevators on 10 cruises, once on carnival when we were FTTF and being escorted to the priority tender loading (down 2 floors) and had to stay with the group, and again on carnival when I rode the glass elevators in the atrium all the way up and then all the way back down (like an amusement park ride, lol).

Ah, I love this!

As I've only cruised four times, my traditions are slowly being created, but every cruise that I've gone on so far I've taken a selfie on the gangway. Luckily everyone that's been around us don't mind the .05 second holdup before walking on, LOL.

I also go right to the bar and get the drink of the day as my first drink.

After that, I used to go to the Flamingo Grill (or Uptown on the Getaway) and grab a quick lunch since it was the best kept secret on embarkation day. I don't know what I'm going to do for lunch now that Margaritaville took over! I loved how it was on the pool deck, free, and fast. On the first day my adrenaline is so high that I need to eat as fast as I can, so I'd usually grab lunch there and sit at the bar that's right next to Flamingo/Uptown and grab a beer (Corona). My routine is definitely going to have to be altered now!

Then I go right to the pool deck, change into a bathing suit, lather up -- and relax in the sun -- I'm officially on vacation!

Ok I like this,

Here we go some of these are for all ships.

First I have always grabbed a Miller Light it might of been a different drink now but since I have been doing it for so many years I will not change it.

Another is we always run to Kids camp and register my son so there are no lines but now he is going to be 14 so this might not be as important but it will be sooner than later.

On NCL the first night I always do Prime rib my fist night in Oshehans we used to get 7 day dinning pack but we will not do more than 5 cause the first and last day we like to do what ever we feel like this year were only doing a 3 day package for dinning so this will feel wierd and not what I wanted.

I am going to change my lunch tradition to Oshehans because the whole family used to just spread out and eat when ever and where ever and that I thought stinks for the first day.

We have a few:

--we never board an NCL ship without the UDP and eat every evening meal in the alternative restaurants.

--we always arrive at the pier around 1:00, so our cabin will be ready.

--my wife unpacks and throws clothes to me and I put them away. (It's always fast and funny):D

Some things are different on other lines.

Enjoy!

Kel

We arrive early enough to have a leisurely lunch in the MDR.

When the cabin is ready, we go and drop off what we carried on and lock up our wallets (lightening the load) and other valuables.

We read over our Daily and Latitudes packet to figure out what we need to do and when the rest of the day/night and the cruise.

Meet our room steward, if we can, and ask him/her to empty the frig.

Go to muster.

Our bags are usually there when we get back, so we unpack, and make the cabin our own. :)

Then we are off.........

Our tradition begins in the car driving to the airport. Must play cheeseburger in paradise and changes in latitude by Jimmy Buffet. Then when the car is parked and we are through TSA a cocktail waiting for flight.

Once we embark around 12:30 if you have noon check out at hotel it is mudslide time [emoji7]

Once rooms ready unpack and after muster enjoy sail away party.

Love this! Thinking about downloading the theme to Hawaii 5-0 before our cruise there in October.

We are just getting into cruising but here are some fledgling traditions....

* Eat a leisurely lunch at a MDR while waiting for our cabin

* Sign DS up for Splash Academy early before there is a line

* Eat at the Italian restaurant first night

* Have a sushi appetizer before dinner

* Eat dinner at the upgraded restaurants ... MDR or others for breakfast/lunch

* Get an ornament for our tree

We've only sailed out of NY, but we always go out on the deck for the sail away. And then go relax in Spinnakers for a little while by the windows.

Wings at O'Sheehans is a must on the first day, as well as a full walk around, taking in all of the details!

We always wear our bathing suits on to the ship. It has gotten funny at this point. It doesnt matter how cold the departure port is. It is bathing suits for us on embarkation. It has become a tradition to do any slides on the ships as soon as we board. We are getting older now. But we still do it. Cruising always makes you feel 10 years younger anyways!

We always get to port early......... way too early! I'm so excited to be cruising I can't sit still & rather wait at the port than in the hotel or at home.

Grab a drink & do some people watching

Lunch in MDR

Head to the cabin to meet our steward and get rid of our carryons.

Tour the ship (regardless of how many times we've been on her) until muster

Dinner at Cagneys first & last nights (or other specialty when on another line)

My favourite tradition is that I ALWAYS cruise with my girlfriend (who also happens to be my wife, my best friend, the love of my life, the mother of my two awesome kidlets, and the one thing that keeps me sane).

As another poster mentioned we NEVER take elevators (we broke with this tradition when the wee ones were still stroller monsters). We eat at Teppanyaki at least twice every seven days (I love that they serve proper Kirin beer - ice cold - and green tea ice cream is a favourite indulgence).

Back in the days when we could afford suites every time out (and the rules were different), a cigar and great red wine on our bow balcony in the darkness of night while at sea (regardless of weather - including some nasty stuff around Cape Horn).

The newest tradition is taking the kids for a soft ice-cream and cookie after 10pm pick up at Splash (3 hours past normal bedtime on dry land). So much fun to throw schedule out the window while cruising :)

I love this thread! [emoji16]

When sailing out of NY, arriving early to take advantage of being among the first to board with CAS.

First lunch is always nice and leisurely in the MDR.

Texting photos of the ship/cabin/balcony to or face-timing with our moms and my boyfriend's sister before sail-away.

At least 1 chocolate croissant per day (it's like my cruise vitamin).

For the most part, we're also already in the casino by the time they turn on the slots [emoji5].
