Children in retreat ?

There is nothing about the suite or suite perks that promises an adult only experience. The children in suites have as much right to any of the spaces and perks as any other suite passenger at anytime. Besides, most children behave better than adults I have experienced on the ships!

DW, GS age 4, GD age 7, and I just returned from a 7 day cruise aboard NCL's Epic. We booked a deluxe Owner's Suite in the Haven and made full use of all the Haven facilities. There were several other families booked in the Haven that also used all the facilities. It was my observation that in general the families traveling with children in the Haven preferred to do their thing on the main pool deck, where they had 3 slides, rock climbing, hot tubs, and 2 pools. A lot of other kids hung out at Splash Academy

Heavy seas and bad weather the last day prohibited us from visiting NCL's Stirrup Key. Conditions got so bad at noon they closed the slides and climbing wall. After lunch, parents and kids in the Haven just seemed to migrate to the Havens wind protected pool and 2 hot tubs. Yes there was some Marco Polo going on, but without exception all the children were extremely well behaved. And, the synergy that was generated among the adults at poolside was amazing.

Our last cruise there was a family in one of the 2 penthouse suites. They also had the adjoining sky suite. Parents with 3 children. We talked to the parents and 2 of the 3 children at Luminae and other functions. The kids must have been between 8 and 12. The kids were all very well behaved.

Per this interview with Celebrity's CEO, the Edge and ships after it are being built to encourage more family use of suites, and therefore the retreat.

Additionally, new kids and teen programs are being introduced.

By contrast, on existing ships, AQ staterooms are limited to 2....which can inlude 1 child. But this makes for usually quiet hallways and fewer children in BLU...all of whom seem well dressed and well behaved. Hope the AQ 2 occup rule continues on Edge...

Suites not limited so I expect children can be in Luminae and Retreat..not sure abt children in Michaels presently ( when alc is served) or if there is one on Edge....

Children are allowed at the bars on the ships, where alcohol is served so I'm not sure why you would think they wouldn't be allowed at any time in there, and to have a soft drink while their parents have an alcoholic beverage....and why would there be a distinction between how the children seem to be "well dressed and well behaved" in Blu as opposed to children who are sailing in an inside cabin, eating in the MDR????

The rules allow children in suite areas, Retreat, Michaels, etc - so deal with it.

Guess some like to whine and complain each cruise to get their free OBC by harassing crew who gives them something to go away!

You are wasting your time arguing with this guy. He's a pro.
