reallyitsmema Posted March 28, 2017 #252 Share Posted March 28, 2017 They said they were selling them near Michael's Pub when we were on, but I didn't see anyone. I like to collect them. We are sailing 5/11. I saw on the RCCL Blog the Anthem was having propulsion problems. Hope this doesn't interfere with your cruise. Aileen On the 2/26 Anthem sailing, they were selling drinks and glasses, the last few nights, outside of Michael's Pub right at the end of the esplanade. I know they had the glasses with the flashing lights, I am not sure what else they were selling.
njaloha Posted March 28, 2017 #253 Share Posted March 28, 2017 Oh look what is that up ahead ??? Oh it is just a Giraffe.... a Giraffe on a cruise ship huh?? Wearing an inner-tube for good measure lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Ok, What's with the Giraffe? ;p By the way, SeaDog, after the pics of the Solarium I'm succumbing to the lure of the Anthem. I hear the call. :D But 5-night Bermuda isn't enough. 12-night would be my choice even though I vowed never to sail out of Bayonne in winter months. :( The Solarium is adult only correct? So that means there are 3 pools - 2 are indoors. That's awesome.

Addictedtocruising Posted March 28, 2017 #257 Share Posted March 28, 2017 I feel like I'm cruising with you! I only have 12 days left to board though :D Thanks you for all the info and pictures! I might have missed it but, are the new room service menus & $7.95 fee implemented yet? Thanks for taking time to entertain us ;) Enjoy the rest of your cruise!! dpostman Posted March 28, 2017 #258 Share Posted March 28, 2017 Thanks again. I did some searching on the boards and from what I could find, it is available at Izumi and seems to cost $30 on the Anthem but I couldn't find anything about how it's booked and when you're able to book it. Saw nothing in cruise planner so it must be something done onboard. Anything you can find out would be greatly appreciated. When we had lunch at Izumi on Day 6 on Anthem 2 weeks ago, the server approached us and asked us if we were interested in the Sushi class, so My DW and DD both signed up for $30 each. The class started at 10am on Day 7. I know there was at least one other class on earlier in the week on day 2. Not sure if there were any others. But signing up would be done most likely at the Izumi check-in counter or with a server when ever they are open. dp
seadog67 Posted March 28, 2017 Author #259 Share Posted March 28, 2017 Can't wait to see your reviews of the All Access tour, we are considering doing it in July! I will post a mini review as best I can now, and flesh it out a bit later. The tour originates in the Silk Dining Room where you first meet Avi the department head for silk He explained the setup and operations of the restaurant staff , noting they have 400 food staff onboard. Dessert Menu from Silk: We next entered the galley areas and meet the head chef ( sorry, I could not hear well in there and did not obtain his name). It is was a slower time at thus time in the galley so they were focused on cleanup from lunch: Miles of Stainless Steel! Order board they use to track what and how much is being ordered: They even monitor power consumption of the appliances being used: Tonights special ice cream in Silk: M Cont... seadog67 Posted March 28, 2017 Author #261 Share Posted March 28, 2017 After leaving the galley we had treats Made our own mimosas Decadent goodness! We then proceeded down to the Provisioning area. Note you need to traverse up and down crew stair areas on this tour. Some stairwells were quite narrow and steep if you have mobility issues take note. Cont. seadog67 Posted March 28, 2017 Author #262 Share Posted March 28, 2017 Provision was interesting as they noted that they were expecting 200 pallets today in PC and now have to wait three days, but do not worry, they carry enough beer and pizza to cover, that is the only guarantee he would give lol They noted they generally have on hand 25% extra of most items of importance. 4 days accident free hmmmm: 500 pallets loaded through this door on embarkation day: Trolley Fleet to move the pallets: Entered various cold storage freezers: Pretty cold in one with the seafood if legible: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
seadog67 Posted March 28, 2017 Author #263 Share Posted March 28, 2017 Leaving Provisioning we headed down I95 the crew central access corridor that runs the length of the ship heading to the engine observation area. This is the first tour we have been on that ever included this area of the ship. We found it interesting. It was asked what the propulsion issue was and they said an electrical fault in one of the pod controllers and they did not want to push the speed to damage the part more. Supposedly fix will begin at Nassau. I forget the number of Diesel Engines he mentioned they run but can produce 67,000 kw or 67 mw of power, enough to power a small city of 20,000 people. seadog67 Posted March 28, 2017 Author #269 Share Posted March 28, 2017 We next went to the waste sorting area. Had a bit less pleasant smell than the bread galley lol These guys shake every bag listening for metal or china then carefully tear open the bag to remove the silverware or china mistakenly tossed, then the bag is tossed in the incinerator Bucket full of china ware and silver ware found in the bags: This area they also crush various glass Funny enough this survived getting crushed lol Next it was onto the laundry area: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
seadog67 Posted March 28, 2017 Author #270 Share Posted March 28, 2017 (edited) The laundry Area Lots of dirty laundry Lots of ironing: Some tools to help End result of all that hard work Laundry staff also gets tipped for doing crew laundry Will finish up review later, now getting ready for a return trip to Jamie's we booked last night. Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted March 28, 2017 #271 Share Posted March 28, 2017 Absolutely love this review :). I'm thinking your entire itinerary was reversed (not just the ports of call)? In other words, Was today supposed to be port Canaveral and instead you have 2 sea days at the start of your cruise instead of the end? amkras Posted March 28, 2017 #272 Share Posted March 28, 2017 Nice to see the unsung heros of the ship. People that keep things running and looking great like garbage and laundry detail. Keep up the good work Seadog. I feel like I am right there with you. Enjoy this evening. What are your plans?

seadog67 Posted March 28, 2017 Author #275 Share Posted March 28, 2017 Jamie's repeat performance. Our return to Jamie's was very nice. We had repeat starters from night one, Bruschetta and cured meat plank, both excellent. 5 out of 5 Forks Mrs. S had Sausage spaghetti 5 out of 5 Forks , she thought it had very nice flavor sauce and perfectly cooked pasta. Mr. S had Pawn Linguine 3 out of 5 Forks. ( Somewhat disappointed as the prawns were not flavorful not that tender and the sauce was lacking. Pasta was cooked perfectly though.) Onward...
