No more adult only aft pools?

Recommended Posts

As far as I know, Carnival does not have lifeguards...so opening another pool to kids just doubled the risk..then again they never enforce the rule of no kids in adult pools and that makes them more liable for not enforcing their rules..I just don't like to have to watch other folks kids and don't like them in the hot tubs..not that adults are much better..

Hey, It's my opinion. It's a unique Carnival rule that I happen to disagree with.

I just disagree why it's so "obvious" they don't allow it. If it's ok to drink from a glass bottle at the bar that's near the pool, explain to me how it is so "obvious" why you can't drink from a glass bottle while laying in a lounger? And if its so obvious, why is it only a rule on Carnival?

Like I said, it's just a rule that I disagree with and the whole point of saying it is, apparently people aren't able to act like adults near the pools, which is most likely why this rule even exists.

Accidents happen....even to adults. Why not keep everyone's feet safe and drink your beer in an unbreakable container.

Don't forget they also changed course when their liquor sales onboard plummeted due to the having to pick up your booze the morning of debarkation. Now on cruises of 6 days or more, they are delivered to your cabin the night before.

The Fun Shops (onboard)

All alcohol purchased in The Fun Shops onboard will be stored for safekeeping until the end of the voyage. The retained items will be available for collection in a designated lounge on the morning of debarkation for cruise durations 5 days and less; for cruise durations 6 days and more, alcohol will be delivered to guest staterooms after 7:00pm, the evening prior to debarkation (some exceptions may apply).

Unfortunately, it seems the Vista didn't get that memo as I had to pick up my 3 bottles of White Hennessy at the Fun Shops at 0600 the morning of debarkation. 8 night cruise.

Must have fell under the "Some exceptions may apply" clause. Probably due to Spring Break.

No glass, in any shape, should ever be allowed on the pool deck. Even my timeshare company adheres to this rule at all of it's resorts. Can't understand why someone would be unhappy with a safety issue. I've sailed 5 cruise lines and seen drunks on every one of them (even HAL) so please stop trying to make it sound like a Carnival problem.

The fact of the matter is that in today's society more often than not the children of the family have a significant amount of influence where their parents spent money. Just looks at the staggering number of marketing/advertising dollars spent in the tween market. If carnival got word that kids were complaining about pool space, they'll do anything to keep kids happy. So many parents are prisoners to their own children's wants.

So you're saying the kids are telling daddy to drink himself stupid or mommy to put $500 on red at the roulette table? ;p

No talking about drinking or gambling, but about carnival catering to kids being allowed in more space on majority of ships. If kids whine and complain parents will find somewhere to make them happy and often compromise what they do to keep little johnny from being a royal pain in the --- for an entire vacation.

I never said it was a Carnival problem. I said it's a Carnival rule that I disagree with. Big difference.

You can relax...most people apparently agree with you and rule. No need to add context that didn't exist. ;)

You are sadly mistaken....Just to give you a little background..Have been lucky enough to have sailed 29 times over the past 31 years. 15 out of my first 21 cruises were on Carnival. Only 2 of my most recent 8 have been on them. I don't book a cruise because of the line or the ports. I book for the perceived value to me and recently other lines are further up the chain value wise to me. I'm not a blind loyalist like many are to Carnival, Royal, or NCL

On my two recent NCL Escape cruises, I had the privilege of obtaining Vibe passes, which is an exclusive area that is adults only and has a limit of 75 passes per sailing. It was and is great. It's a notch above Serenity and it has its own bar and kids can't even access the area.

If it wasn't for me doing research and finding out about the Havana area on the Vista and what it offers, it may have been a long time till we sailed on Carnival again. But, since the beards seem to be more interested in the blue cards than the platinum ones, after our 2019 cruise on the Horizon it could be awhile till our next Carnival adventure.

Great for you, but most will continue to sail carnival because it continues to be the cheapest option to cruise.

Fact is Carnival's data must tell them they make more off families, vs people sailing kid free. This is what it boils down to.

My family sailed on Valor in February. Every time I was in the aft area, there was nobody in the pool. It is hard to make an area that is directly off of the buffet and includes Pizza Pirate an adult only area. These spaces are too public to effectively restrict kids from entering.

Before I have tables thrown at me, yes I have kids that I travel with and yes I did love the quiet that came with that part of the ship. I know that I can find other quiet places on board though.

If an adult only pool makes or breaks your vacation, it may be time to consider someone else. Carnival is a family line, it is going to cater to families.

Older Adults cruise more often and spend more on a per person basis than a young family. I'm sure of it. Carnival may be positionIng itself as the "affordable family cruise line" and doesn't care if older adults go elsewhere (as long as it's Princess or Holland America)

Meh, let the kids have it. The pools are filled with cold sea water every morning & never quite warm up except in the deep tropics. I suppose they'll partition off the serenity area somehow. Clearly nobody is using the aft pools in the adult area, so let the kids have it.

Go check it out for yourself and see what the comments are. That's how I found out what happened. WAY more people putting Carnival on blast for the change. Oh and it took effect half way through people's cruises no less.

.

WOW!!!! That's outrageous!

What annoys me is that there was no advance notice....Carnival has every right to make whatever changes they want; however, with the exception of safety issues, I don't see why they would not show respect to their loyal customers (;)) by making advance notice of let's say....3 months...this way IF you don't like it you are not yet in final payment and can switch ships

I say again.....I NEVER would have booked my upcoming B2B on the Splendor had I known this.....I would have picked a different ship as the Serenity Deck on this ship is not to my liking and does not meet my vacay wants

Nothing angers me more than irresponsible parents who let their kids run rampant on a cruise ship, making a mess and being annoying brats. Very few places people can go to get away from them, and now they are taking them away. SMDH. Maybe its time to cruise a different line, or stick to the ships that don't have this ridiculous change.

It was.

So then tell me where on the Dream it said that pool was for adults only? I don't understand how we missed that, shouldn't it be advertised that it is for adults only for those who haven't cruised before and don't realize it?

It is somewhat confusing. They're sailing pretty full, at least any cruise I looked into into this spring and I'm talking May, before school lets out in the US. Had to cancel one in April and was hoping, maybe, for a last minute deal, with no luck. As a matter of fact, every one I'm looking into has very few rooms available and the prices are just going up. I'm either going NCL, where I am seeing some excellent last minute deals (though not enamoured of their food) or going to do another land vacay. If Disney can recognize and have an adult section ...

I love the conquest class specifically for their stadium Lido (you can be involved and see everything, but not in the dead middle of it) and for the adult aft pool. The only time I've seen the aft even close to empty is in port and at night. Even in port there were still a few around it.

I've seen arguments that the kids are paid for, they should have full run of the ship. Well, they pretty much do now. Other than the casino floor, the serenity on Pride and 'previously' kids trying to get in or sit in the aft pool on conquest class, I've yet to see kids turned away from anywhere on a ship!

Kids, water and MIA or indifferent parents aren't exclusive to cruises. Last May on my land vacation, I personally grabbed 3 kids from the deep end who were going under and another adult grabbed 2, not one of them could have been over 8. Of all, 4 of their parents weren't even in the pool area and 1 was laying face down on her lounger with her head away from the pool. I guess they figure people like me will rescue their kids when they get in trouble. Luckily we were there, but if not, there could have been tragic consequences.

Cool.. does this mean adults can now go to club carnival & play video games.. I'm just being a smarty pants.. but, I like how there are areas for adults, areas for kids, and areas for family. It gives everyone a chance to enjoy their vacation. Now.. I have never done it before, but you better bet in the fact that I will complain when people bring their kids into Serenity.

Have had the pleasure to enjoy:

Carnival Celebration 07

Carnival Victory 16

Carnival Valor 17

Did you ever even once think that maybe those parents didn't even know that their kids were running rampant? My boys were in Circle C often and they could come and go as they pleased, which was the way the club ran....they weren't always with dh or I so that we could monitor that they were behaving. We have told them time and time again what is appropriate behavior and what is not, but alas, they are 13 and 11 and boys, they don't always think about their actions while they are doing things. I saw kids running around one day and asked them if they made sure that they weren't running while not with us and they admitted that they had been running around. We scolded them and told them to make sure to not do it again. There's only so much parents can do while not with their kids, doesn't mean we are irresponsible parents, we are actually pretty great parents with very well behaved, respectable kids (but again, they are KIDS and they will do stupid things every once in awhile that they know they shouldn't be doing, probably has something to do with the fact that their frontal lobes aren't fully developed until into the early twenties)....we've been told numerous times by many, many adults over the years, both strangers and those who know us how wonderful all 3 of our children are.

Dream was never mentioned. They were speaking about Conquest Class ships which is why I replied "It was".

I Think kids should be allowed in the Serenity area until 8 PM with adult if they behave. At the first sign of shenanigans they should be sent packing for the rest of the day, with their adult. It is amazing how well behaved they can be after that.

Children are not bad by nature, they just need a little education to become functioning human beings.

No way. It's for 21 and over. The lounge chairs are full enough without kids too. The issue is that not all parents make their kids behave and Carnival employees lack any cojones to enforce the rules and/or behavior. If parents want to lounge around with their kids, they have the whole rest of the ship to do so. This is coming from a mother of 2.
