No more adult only aft pools?

Recommended Posts

I always go to the bar to get my own drink. I never rely on the waitstaff. If I can't go to the bar to get my own drink then I've had enough.

I never have so much that I cannot go to the bar and get my own drink but isn't that point of waitstaff? So on your vacation you don't have to stop reading your book and leave the pool lounger, put on sandals and head to the bar each time you want a drink? Just an example of course but I would hope the waitstaff doesn't truly take 40 minutes to deliver drinks!

Reposting my comment from the other Thread. Look I am not happy about this change either, but I have also had to find my own way of avoiding Children on my cruises.

The easiest way to avoid children is to make a point, periodically, of exclaiming that you are prohibited from being in the presence of Children. Finding a Mother on an elevator and being frank is truly Gold: "Oh Honey, I am not a Parent, I use F!ck like a comma and drink like a Flapper! I am a very bad influence! The only reason a Parent let's their children around me is to ensure they are knocked up or dropped out by 16"

I guarantee you, there will be no Children in your Proximity for the remainder of the Cruise. Parents will hurry to shuffle their Precious out of visual line of sight, praying to God the whole time their Precious doesn't ask any questions about you.

Works for me every time!

As for the Adult Only Pools- Service Quality will suffer as Adults are forced to jump thru hoops to order Alcohol so as the Precious are not tempted to drink on board!

Of course such remarks could end you up in jail. If one and it only needs to be one parent takes them as a threat against their child.

That's where the teenagers that hang off the sides of railings belong. Maybe then they'll think twice before trying to impress their new found friends.

Funny that most of the reported incidents of this happening have been young adults over 18 and aren't they "allowed" at the adult only areas?

I believe they are referencing this incident in particular. And what they meant by "where they belong" is in the brig. But I could be wrong.

I have yet to see any adults hanging off the ship. Not to say it hasn't happened, but I haven't seen it.

Actually, it's 21+ for the Serenity. An 18 year old can fight and die for their country but can't go to the Serenity or buy a beer.

I haven't read every post on this thread but I do know that Carnival is going to open the back pool to families due to the fact that in September 2017 the Conquest will be going into drydock and they will be adding a serenity section in the front of the ship. Not sure if they are adding a pool or just the special chairs/hammocks/loungers.

I see a lot of negativity and people jumping to conclusions being that they get a small fact and run with it.

Serenity on dream is 15 forward, no pool or hot tub

They can't buy a beer anywhere in the US. And this thread is about the aft pool areas not the serenity area. 18 year olds can go to all adult areas but serenity. And why they would want to go there is beyond me.

Yes, my dear...You are correct in assuming I was talking about the brig being the place for the hanging teenagers trying to impress their new found friends.

Yes I know but a ship doesn't sail in the US except for the first and last 3 miles of the trip so the rules don't have to be that way but they are. Also, I was correcting your statement that 18 years can go to all adult areas, no, they can't which I provided the example of.

The U.S. military molds 18 year olds into who it needs them to be. Teaches them to be more responsible and disciplined. I'm not saying 18 year old civilians are all irresponsible & undisciplined, but they're still coming into their own and tend to be carefree. So yeah, they're often irresponsible & undisciplined. That's just the nature of the beast.

Totally off topic but i think it's crazy my 18 year old won't be able to enjoy a drink with his parents on the ship, or can't go into serenity, but his money is welcome and allowed in the casino.

I believe you can sign a waiver and your 18 year old can drink beer and maybe wine in your presence.

I believe you have to purchase and serve though.

Hey giving a warning shot is the polite and courteous thing to do!

Would it be better for their children to return to the Cabin chittering about the old lady drinking swearing and smoking? Now THAT would cause a Brig Incident when Mommy's Panic sets in!

Nope...Carnival has a 21 policy...no exceptions when sailing from a US port. May be different for international departures.

I believe he can drink at all the ports though. Our drinking age is 18, so it sucks he won't be able to enjoy a drink with dinner. I do intend to let him have a drink in the room, balcony etc if he wants.

This is only allowed on Norwegian, Celebrity and Azamara. Royal allows it in Eastern Hemisphere sailings. It pertains to 18-20 year olds who are traveling with their parents and a waiver is signed.

Carnival does have a waiver but.....

Once upon a time I went in a Solo Cruise, and met a young lady who was "turning 21 on THIS CRUISE!!!"

I bought her a drink and we chatted about Adulthood. The next day meet her Mother and we visit etc and so on....I see her at the bar again later before dinner and she says "my waiver says I can drink alcohol but I can't buy it until my actual birthday".... naturally I buy her a drink from the same bartender who made the drinks the day before.

****I AM NOT A PARENT*****

Third day, cocktail hour, same bar, same girl, and of course I believe Today is her Birthday. She says "they found out I am only 20 so I can't even sit with you at the bar"

I look at bartender she says "I am so sorry madame, I should have enquirer for you sooner" I smile she smiles we both nod and I tell the Girl I am late for Dinner.

Fourth day, after 10p bar dancing, Older Adults, she's there. Asks me for "a sip of my drink". So I lean in and tell her:

"Sweet Heart, I like you, nothing personal, but I have plans for the $5000 I will be fined for providing you alcohol now that I know you are not even close to 21"

So while I should have reported her like Blue Haired Old Ladies do (look at my profile pics before you light that match), I let it go. Mostly because Staff discretely & quietly take care of me and keep me out of trouble.

Later on the Cruise I saw her with several different VERY older men (75-90), drink giggling and flirting. That is until the Staff figured out what was happening. I didn't see her again until the last day of the cruise so she might have been put on Room Confinement.

That's my experience with Waivers and the Young Adults 18-20.

The language was ambiguous. It said under 21 was not able "to be served" alcohol.

In Mexico and Honduras, if they can verbally order and have money, they can drink.
