Back to Back Different State Rooms

Recommended Posts

Can someone explain how it works when we have to change staterooms between cruises. I understand we will have to get off the ship to clear customs and then are able to get right back on. However if we are changing rooms do we have to wait until 1 o'clock to get into our new room? How is our luggage transferred to our new room? Any insight you can provide on this is appreciated. Thank you.

You will pack up any "loose" items....and anything on hangers will be transported to the new cabin by the cabin attendants. NO...you do NOT have to wait! They will make sure your new cabin is one of the 1st cleaned for you. You will have to leave the ship, and go thru getting a new seapass card for the new cabin...but that doesn't take long and you are escorted the whole way. It's not hard at all.

While it is easier to keep the same cabin, it's not hard to move to a new one.

Make sure you let your cabin steward know so that he/she can coordinate with your new steward. You will have to pack your clothing and bathroom items. Steward will transfer anything on hangers. You will need to move other bags. Sometimes steward will move packed bag, but they really just take items on hangers.

Make sure you empty safe and keep any valuables with you. Carryon bag works well and take with you as you clear customs and get back on the ship. Wouldn't trust leaving in cabin as doors are open and lots of people around.

As Grandma Dazzles mentioned carryon bags, I brought paper shopping bags (to throw away) and sorted items based on placement in the bathroom and cabin so I didn't have to think about unpacking locations. I layered the shopping bags with paper to differentiate bathroom-cabin drawers and it made unpacking so much easier. I was lucky to move next door and have the same steward who cleaned my new cabin before any others so I suggest you meet your new steward and request early cleaning. He has to clean all of his cabins so he might as well start with yours as soon as it's empty.

We have done this several times and the cabin steward takes everything including the luggage that you put drawer contents and loose personal items from the cabin in. Never needed extra bags.

We will also be on a b2b for the first time . So we pack up anything not on hangers and leave our bags in the room or take them with us?

Leave the bags.

I would also review this process with the old and new stateroom attendants to make sure you are all on the same page.

Leave everything in the room, they will move it for you... we did this on Allure last October, all I took with me was my purse with id's, passports, ect...

We were able to get into or new room right after they walked us off and back on, if you are questioned going to your new room, just tell them you are a B2B passenger and they will let you thru... all of our belongings were there by the time we were back on board, about 11:00, I was able to unpack and go to lunch by noon...

On our Next B2B cruise we have the same cabin... it will make it much easier, but I will do it either way to be able to go on a B2B

Next April we are doing a B2B on the Oasis and have the same cabin however our daughter and Aunt will only move two doors closer to us for the 2nd cruise. I am sure each cruise is different, as during our Transpacific to Hawaii, we got our new Sea Pass Cards early the next morning then were free to leave and enjoy Waikiki the rest of the day.Not sure how they will handle it on our Oasis cruise.

I always go to the new steward & tell them personally, we will be B2B passengers, so they know. I also, ask / call the out going passengers to see their intentions. If they aren't early risers, why should I be? Gives everyone a clear perspective. We have changed cabins 4 times.

You will be given your new SeaPass and all the info you need as a consecutive cruiser during the meeting the day before your first leg ends....the meeting info time and place will be left in your cabin.

If you keep the same cabin can you just leave all your stuff where it is and treat it like any other port day?

Yes, and you can even get back into your stateroom whenever you want, i.e., before 1pm.

While this supposed to be true, my hubby was stopped and not allowed back thru the doors even after he told them he was B2B. I was in cabin waiting and wondering where he was. I told him if it happens again, just go to different door. He was surprised because that was the first time, after several B2B's, that this happened.

It's happened to us too, usually with a very new crewmember guarding the fire doors. We went to another deck and asked for help and they corrected the new crewmember.

On the Allure and Oasis didn't get the new Seapass card until after clearing customs. Went to a meeting a couple of days previous to end of first cruise, and given all the necessary instructions. Had to meet at 10:00 am and was walked off ship to clear customs/immigration and then were given new Seapass card. Also given a small card saying in transit so that we could leave terminal and return, skipping all the new cruiser lines. Also complimentary lunch in Giovanni's.
