We were there at the end of February on Emerald, and yes there was a free shuttle into the city center. The pick up/drop off was very conveniently located, and there were always shuttles available to go back and forth.

Is there a free shuttle into the town of

Wellington. There has been some

damage around the port.

I am going to be there in a few days.

Yes there is a free shuttle into the town. You can actually walk it if you are able(lots do) but it is quite a way. I hope you have good weather as it is a fantastic city on a nice day! Sadly New Zealand is being hit at the moment with another 'weather bomb' as we suffer the tail end of cyclone Cook. Fingers crossed for you for good weather by the time you get here!

(Just about 1 mile to the Railway Station which is the start of thee CBD) I hope you have good weather as it is a fantastic city on a nice day! (There is lots to do close to town.) The walk is not very nice looking!! Wharves on one side; Railway on the other and then the Stadium.

Since the earthquake damage late last year they are providing free shuttles. We were there in February. The exit from the wharf area is also different, at the other end of the wharf (northern end, away from the stadium).
