ILOVESHIPS Posted April 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2017 Is there a free shuttle into the town of Wellington. There has been some damage around the port. I am going to be there in a few days.
beg3yrs Posted April 11, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2017 Best asked over in the Ports of Call / Australia and New Zealand subforum. In fact, there's been a very recent discussion on this topic. Short answer is yes and walk off through the port is not allowed because of the damage. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2457181
OddAbroad Posted April 11, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2017 We were there at the end of February on Emerald, and yes there was a free shuttle into the city center. The pick up/drop off was very conveniently located, and there were always shuttles available to go back and forth.

Yes there is a free shuttle into the town. You can actually walk it if you are able(lots do) but it is quite a way. I hope you have good weather as it is a fantastic city on a nice day! Sadly New Zealand is being hit at the moment with another 'weather bomb' as we suffer the tail end of cyclone Cook. Fingers crossed for you for good weather by the time you get here! (Just about 1 mile to the Railway Station which is the start of thee CBD) I hope you have good weather as it is a fantastic city on a nice day! (There is lots to do close to town.) Sadly New Zealand is being hit at the moment with another 'weather bomb' as we suffer the tail end of cyclone Cook. Fingers crossed for you for good weather by the time you get here! The walk is not very nice looking!! Wharves on one side; Railway on the other and then the Stadium. https://www.google.co.nz/maps/dir/Wellington+Station,+Wellington/Aotea+Quay,+Pipitea,+Wellington/@-41.2748415,174.7815151,16z/data=!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x6d38ae2c3f4dd7b9:0x1d00ef622515eb70!2m2!1d174.78034!2d-41.279214!1m5!1m1!1s0x6d38ae3b79d83615:0x8ff6c04816a08bfe!2m2!1d174.7861424!2d-41.2688842!3e2

Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted April 12, 2017 #7 Share Posted April 12, 2017 Since the earthquake damage late last year they are providing free shuttles. We were there in February. The exit from the wharf area is also different, at the other end of the wharf (northern end, away from the stadium).
