Coral Princess suites

I need help in choosing a suite cabin on the Coral Princess.for an Alaskan cruise tour in 2018..there seems to be only 2 port and 2 starboard suites mid ship on Dolphin Deck and a few more toward the aft port and starboard on both Caribe and Dolphin Decks.

Is there any significant advantage in size, location and /or deck? what about convenience to the Lido Cafe and the International Cafe. also have read about past Aft odor issues .

I have not researched the Coral because my favorite ship is the Star, and we thought that would definitely be our ship of choice. However, flight schedules on a Saturday when returning home are a nightmare so we must consider a cruise that ends in Vancouver mid week.

We had an aft Vista Suite on Coral's Caribe Deck, C703. It was wonderful with no noise whatsoever from the nearby Laundry room. We would do it again in a second.

Thanks! any issues with aft odors ? what about the distance to the Cafe in the bow and the International Cafe?

I think aft odors are extremely subjective. I'm not bothered by them unless they are very strong, whereas my husband finds them offensive. He even claims the smokestack mid ship bothers him when watching MUTS. I think it all depends on a person's sensitivity to odors.

What bothers me in an aft cabin are wooden coat hangers clinking together at night........if all hangers are not covered, i take the extras off the rod to avoid the noise.

i am sure you are right. i have Reactive Airway Disease so any strong aroma be it pleasant or nasty can trigger an asthma attack. I am also worried about the International Cafe being adjacent to the Casino but have not found any remarks about IC patrons being bothered by smoke. However if we want to do the land tour first the Coral is the only ship we can take since air transportation home from Vancouver on weekends is abysmal.

We have stayed in D631 and really liked both the suite and the location. There is not much foot traffic in that part of ship as mostly just passengers going into the last few cabins in the back. We spent a fair amount of time on the balcony, morning, noon & night, and never noticed any smells while outside.

It was convenient for us, with the steps right outside the door, especially for the IC. I would get up every morning, and go down fthere to get two cups of fresh brewed coffee, and be back in less than 10 minutes. We did sit in the IC a few times, and never noticed the smoke from the casino.

We have the same suite booked for Alaska in August.

You will love the Coral, It is one of the most highly rated of all the Princess ships, even better than the Royal class. This ship is built especially to accommodate the Panama Canal as it is one of the smaller ships and is able to go through the original locks. It's a much cozier ship as it only holds about 1700 passengers. It also has the International Café unlike it's sister ship the Island Princess.

If your heart is set on a suite so be it but think about a mini-suite as well. This ship's MS category are different from all other ship models. Cabins are one long room with large balcony area and seem to be roomier than on other Princess ships I've been on. Of course they also have full baths. If you purchase club class you get more of the perks that suite only passengers get as well.

Just booked the Coral.. a suite mid ship as DH prefers that location ..did look at the mini suites but need a walk-in shower and we find a balcony room is too small for us so we splurged. This will probably be our last cruise and a milestone B'day one at that. We have cruised Alaska 3 previous times; however this will be our first (and last) land tour.

thanks everyone for the help.

Have a great cruise. Our last 3 cruises were Oasis, Royal Princess, Oasis. We loved them, but Coral is my new favorite. Easy walk from bow to stern, and I can't walk long distances. I can't breathe around smoke, but the Casino didn't affect the International Cafe for me.

We really enjoyed that ship!

I am looking forward to seeing Denali in person...the only thing that would make us change our mind about this cruise tour would be if Viking finally got a ship on the Mississippi River for 2018.

Coral is my favorite ship also! It is small enough that you actually see the same people more than once, and doesn't feel crowded. And it has (or used to when I kept up better with the ships) most of the amenities of the larger Princess ships. Your cabin location is a good one.

Enjoy your cruise and hopefully it will not be your last after all !

Our thanks to all who posted here. After reading this thread, we got an upsell offer to a suite on the Coral. Following the rave reviews, we took the offer. We have been all in every class stateroom, starting with an inside P cabin back in 2002. This will be our first experience with a suite on Princess. We too are splurging for a special occasion.(yn)(yn)(yn)(yn)(yn)

  • 3 weeks later...

just read on a cruise deck site that the mid ship suites on the Coral range from 302 to 470 sq.ft. !!!! does anyone know if this is true and if so which of the 4 suites are the smaller one(s) ?

All of the deck plans I can find do not show any difference at all both between the 4 mid ship suites and the 12 Vista ones !

We were in Vista Suite C702 for our Grand Panama Canal cruise from FLL to YVR. It is 470 sq. ft. This are not in the aft (like the stern) but on the side, near the aft. No issues with odors at all. It is a bit of a walk to Horizon's Court but we didn't mind. Got our exercise. Ha!

Here are a couple pictures of the balcony. Lots of room. Had breakfast every morning on the balcony.

I am far too poor to afford to cruise in a suite but... Given the choice between Star Princess and Coral Princess I would choose Coral Princess. We just enjoy that ship far more.

I had an aft Vista suite and hated it. The Vista suite has a funny layout and there is no counter space in the bathroom. It is difficult to use the closet. The safe is situated in a hard to access space in front of the closet. On the balcony the wake sound is very loud, not at all soothing like one would suspect. This was on the Star princess. This is my opinion of an aft Vista Suite but others may love the suite, it's personal preference. I like the Penthouse suites very much.

Vista Suites on the Coral are on the port and starboard sides, not aft-facing. We had no issues with the layout, any odors, soot, smoke, etc., and the ship is small enough that a walk anywhere on it isn't too far.
