I'm going to do my good deed for the day (so I can post more snarky stuff later and not feel bad about it LOL).

I live about an hour from Miami as well (hello, neighbor?) and have found that I prefer to pay to park at the port rather than save a few $$ and have to deal with a shuttle. Some of the shuttle lots in Miami don't seem very secure to me either, so for the convenience and peace of mind, I park at the port.

Park at the port. Walk across the street to embark and to disembark. No waiting with 2000 other people for a shuttle or cab.
