Any recommendations? Sorry can’t recommend TA’s - not allowed on Cruise Critic. There are others who can recommend tours and limos though!
HUNKY Posted July 26 #2452 Share Posted July 26 I wish Viking would offer shore excursions on embarkation and departure day! I will add that to my comments on our upcoming Panama Canal cruise.

Any recommendations? Get the Rick Steve's book on Rome and research what you want to see. We've used Joe Banana tours a couple of times and were pleased. They'll work with you to customize a tour. (See the Cruise Critic guidelines) However, we can talk in general about using a travel agent and what they can do for us. For that conversation, I think the one to call on is @Clay Clayton. And if Clay doesn't know, he might have some suggestions. As for a day in Rome, it is do-able, provided the timing of your flight allows, and you can arrange it yourself. TripAdvisor and Viator are two places to start looking and there is a whole Ports of Call forum here on Cruise Critic that you can consult as well. There are a number of companies that do "tour plus transfer to airport." The big question is "what time is the last flight to JFK?"; that is the deciding factor. You will need 3 hours at the airport and an hour minimum to get there (and maybe more if the traffic is bad) plus ship to Rome is an hour without stops.
