In your 30's on Carnival

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering what do people in the age range of 28-38 do when you are on a cruise? What do you like to do? What don't you like? What do you do when you go to the ports? What do you do on sea days? What type of things do you do at night?

For those wondering. I am asking in Carnival because I have only cruised with them and I am going on an upcoming Carnival cruise.

Thanks.

My sons, 30, 39 & 41 takes advantage of the cruise to bond again. In port, they go snorkeling when in the Caribbean. On sea days, they don't go to ship's activities but just hang around in the pool area. They go bar-hopping in the evening.

I am 38, my plan is to sit on my butt all week, with my kindle and just read and read and drink and read. if one person interrupts me, and doesn't have a beer in hand, they might lose said hand. In ports, I do self excursions, not really a person who follows the crowds too much. and I am usually in bed by 9

I do not usually do the same things as I hate monotony. The only thing that I do that is set is dinner time. I usually do my own excursions. I've only done one carnival excursion because I can do the same excursions for cheaper and I usually do not go too far from the ship.

I'm 44 and I like your plan! In fact, I'm going to tell my husband the plan so he knows he needs to keep bringing me drinks while I read.

I'm 31 my wife is going to be 30 this year. I think tastes change as you continue and find new things.

We love the Alchemy Bar - you'll create a group of regulars and friends by the end of the cruise and you'll get to know the mixologists as well.

Our last cruise our guy even had our card number memorized where he would just have us sign off when he saw us if he was busy or we needed to run somewhere else.

The comedians are hit/miss sometimes but just depends on what type of person you are for those.

Casino is the casino... win some... lose some... as long as you are OK with it - it's all fun!

I would say just have fun and do your thing - enjoy a drink - enjoy the beach - or go crazy and do every activity on board!

I'm on the higher end of this spectrum and I haven't seen my tastes change much since I was 18. I usually just eat, gamble, pool, club, drink, eat, gamble, eat, gamble. Now I just have some kids I have to entertain. I also like how the sports bar is better than when we first started cruising.

I am 30 and my husband is 35. It is his first cruise. I just don't want to miss out anything for him. I usually do self excursions as well. Never through Carnival. We have one sea day. I plan to chill and relax but not sure if there would be something going on that he would love. We will be drinking so I am sure we will have a good time.

My wife (31) and I (35) are almost the same. We love the Alchemy Bar. They always seem to have the best bartenders there. Comedians are usually solid and something we try to do. We spend a decent amount of time in the casino...I love blackjack but not a fan of Carnival's rules and the autoshuffler so we've started playing roulette the past couple of cruises. We check out a show or two but they're not usually our thing. Cheers! is the best and worst thing that happen for us. On one hand, it gives us some freedom to try things we might not normally try but for those "beach" ports it makes it hard to justify hanging out on the beach when we have prepaid drinks and an empty pool on the boat.

The ship can have a lot to do with activities. On the new Vista, we ate and drank, went to the casino, rode the water slides, got some sun, swam, used the hot tubs, got ice cream, bowled, played mini golf, went to the thrill theater several times, went to the IMAX, watched movies on deck every night, rode the Skyride, watched live music with more drinks, took walks, played foosball, played shuffleboard, played a lot of mini golf, drank coffee and and craft beer, there's trivia, etc etc ...... Newer ships, not just on Carnival , offer way more to do then older ships in any fleet. We always take an excursion in every port because stopping at a port and only shopping is stupid. I want a helicopter tour, a 4x4 excursion, swim with the stingrays, swim with dolphins, go to Monkeyland, etc etc etc ........ I want the best tours and want to see the island or country i'm visiting, not two streets or small area in front of a ship selling crap souvenirs. It doesn't matter if you book excursions thru Carnival or not just go do something you can't do or see back home besides shop or staying on the ship ....... lame.

I go into the city in the port. I utilize the people there to see more than just the island and the tours you pay for. It is much more fulfilling to spend the day that way. Then on those paid for tours. They don't really show you life. Also we go to the beach and do different water sports, Jets Ski's, Kayaking, Banana Boat, etc. There is way more to offer at the ports than what Carnival sells you. Go into the city.

I'm 33 and my husband is 37. We love to hang by the pool and do all the pool activities. We like to do trivia and bingo, occasionally. We always take part in the Cheers programs and enjoy our beverages throughout the day! At night, we love doing dinner in MDR, love the shows - comedians and Las Vegas style shows, gambling in the casino. Love the deck parties and bar hopping and we always end the night dancing at the dance club. At the ports we enjoy doing active excursions - zip lining, rainforest hikes, standup paddleboarding and snorkeling at the beach. You'll have so much fun! Cruising is my favorite type of vacation!

Well, if you're leaving the little ones at home you can rekindle the romance flame......if there aren't any kids you can make one.......just an idea! Then there's always people watching, pier runners, folks in robes, and huge people in little bathing suits that think they're all that. Geez I miss cruising!

I am 28, but my likes and dislikes are a mix of early teens, early twenties, and late thirties. I don't consider myself to be 100% Millennial.

When in port I take Carnival excursions most of the time(especially if I am cruising solo). I like knowing that the ship will wait for me. I know most independent tour operators will get you back on time, but the ship won't wait for me if they are late. Juneau is the only port where I did my own excursions, but that is because I had already been there on two land vacations(total of 40 nights). In Cozumel, I plan on always going to Passion Island by Twister. I love the boat ride there. I also look around in the shops even if I don't plan on buying anything.

On sea days I am much more lazy. I basically just eat, sleep, and surf the internet. I also go on the Behind the Fun tour if it is the last sea day on a ship class I haven't been on before. I would swim more and use the slides, but I currently don't have a swimsuit that fits properly. It is difficult for me to find one that I like. I don't like crazy patterns. I also don't want to have to choose between covering/supporting my chest and covering my stomach.

I do early dining and then go to the shows. I prefer Playlist Productions. I saw the old style welcome show and just wondered when someone else would start singing. I went to the World show and got bored after a few minutes of them just dancing.

I go to the casino on the last night. I bring a set amount($10/day of cruise) and leave when I am out. I play penny slots one $5 bill at a time. If I get that $5 to $6.01 or more, I cash out that $5 and move on to the next $5 bill. So far, I have always left the casino with some money. Someday I will go to the casino more than just the last night.

I don't drink enough alcohol to justify Cheers. I can only tolerate dauquiris. I also take medications, so i can't drink too much. I get one daiquri every seven days(plus free Gold drink). I also don't drink coffee of any kind. The only other things that I get are chocolate shakes(one per cruise) and peach smoothies(one every night with the exception of my last cruise). They were out of the peach base needed for daiquiris and smoothies.

I go to some of the other shows(Love & Marriage, Quest, Battle of the Sexes). I will play Bingo someday. I love the game, but I just don't feel like wasting the money right now.

I also do the daily Sudoku and crossword puzzles. I am usually on my phone during downtime. I would love to do some of the kids activities, but that obviously isn't going to happen. If I am bored, I just take a nap/watch TV in my cabin. I am usually in bed by midnight.

I am 32 and my husband is 34.. Our anniversary cruise is in 13 days and we decided to try the chief's table.. As a gift to ourselves. Every review i have read says it is well worth the money especially if you are foodies.. We also like tea time on sea days.. It an upscale tea party and its time to get to know other cruisers over tea and cakes.. Bingo is always fun!! Club dancing at night is a MUST along with the midnight pool party on the lido deck.. As far as when we are in port we love the beach and scuba diving. Most importantly is we are leaving the kids at home so we can rekindle and sleep in late if we choose too.. Just have fun and always read the fun times to find out what is going on that day!!

Hot Tub and Casino.

I would like to do more at night but on my past cruises the night life has be less than desirable. For example, there has been a lot of empty seat in the piano bar for example the crowed interaction is very bad.

We're late 30's, been cruising with Carnival since 2014. During the day, we play cards, hang out on the quieter decks, people watch, talk to other passengers, get to know the staff, etc. At night, we're at our favorite bar, making full use of Cheers, hanging with new friends, going to the club, hanging out at the piano bar, etc. Never a dull moment for us on a Carnival ship. :D

We always do YTD and ask to sit at a large table. We meet lots of interesting people that way!

LOVE the adult comedy shows.

We choose Carnival when the kids aren't along, so we spend a lot of time people-watching and relaxing. Lots of afternoon naps ;)

I'm in my early 40's now and have been cruising on Carnival for almost 20 years. Probably took at least one cruise most years during my 30's. Here's what I enjoyed doing:

During the day on the ship - enjoyed being in the middle of the action on the Lido deck, watching the pool games/demonstrations, enjoying many frozen and fruity cocktails. Loved meeting different people from all over - many of whom I'm still friends with today. TODAY - I prefer the peacefulness of the Serenity Deck (and can't wait to try the Havana area) but still enjoy my poolside cocktails!

During port days - I always liked a mix of active excursions and relaxing beach days. We've done horseback riding, zip lining, cave tubing, river tubing, and taking in the local sights and points of interest. That hasn't changed at all for me now!

Evenings on the Ship - I always like going to dinner in the MDR. I can only think of a handful of times in 16 cruises that we've missed dinner in the MDR (once we were watching our favorite NFL team playing Monday Night Football on the Lido Deck, once I was under the weather, and a couple times we were in port till late evening and had dinner off the ship). I love dressing up and staying in my fancy duds all night. After dinner it was a mix of comedy shows, piano bar, or dancing in the nightclub with some casino time mixed in. Not big on the production shows...but love more interactive stuff like Quest. Recently, we've brought a small game (like Cards Against Humanity) and played it in the library bar with our group. So much fun!

When I was younger I could stay out until 3AM and be back up early the next day without a problem. TODAY - I require alot more sleep! Now I am cruising with a husband and toddler, so it's a much different experience. But we still try to have a good balance of family time and adult interaction! Need that time to decompress!
