Q1 perks.

Hello All, considering a Q1 suite for my next cruise on QE, have previously had q4,5,and 6. Just wondering if there are any perks which are available in addition to those in q3,4,5,6. Apart from the additional space obviously.

Unless things have changed since our last Q2, for extras over a Q3, we are escorted on-board and the butler brings us an i pad loaded with our choice of the daily newspapers.

Those two will also apply to the Q1 but as we don't book a 1, I'm not sure of any further extras.

In addition to the news paper on Ipad, you get a better quality of welcome Champagne. One of the great perks we enjoyed on board with friends, was to have out Butler Santa serve us six of us for dinner in the dining room. A very pleasant experience Though this is available on other grades, the dining room table easily sat six.

Yes the Champagne was Veuve Cliquot in our last Q1. I do say that the layout of the Q1's on Victoria appear a great improvement.

We were personally escorted onto the QM2 when we were booked in a Q4. In September, we are booked in a Q2, but we are traveling with others who are booked in a Q5. Do you think the Q5-ers will be able to board along with us, with the personal escort? Really don't want us to get separated at the very start...

I've never been 'escorted on-board' i.e. from check-in but have often been escorted once actually onboard.

Twice in Q1, first time we got the red boarding card and were escorted the back way through security and then aboard to our suite.

Last time out, no special treatment, we wandered through security and then aboard. We asked if cabins were ready and were told all passengers had to go to the buffet which was the holding pen. So we went to the Grills Lounge instead where a dozen or more other suite couples were hanging around wating for their rooms. No concierege there, no announcements about availability so eventually we just headed for our suite and the butler turned up 90 minutes later. Both experiences at Southampton.

I'm not a big fan of the personal escort treeatment but I much prefer it to what happened last time.

Other Q1 perks - some nice binoculars and better books in the suite, nicer flowers and fruit, that sort of stuff. The butler will be very accomodating and if you want people in theywill sort things out. We were persuaded to hold a late afternoon soire for some fellow pax and Santa was terrific. I kept trying to send her away because we knew it was supposed to be her break time but she wouldn't have it, even making sure the place was spotless aftewards.

I've not been aware of priority tendering and there's certainly no special treatment for tour bookings - it's first come first served and if you dally then tough luck. With Celebrity as a contrast, the concierge service is incredible and the tour desk will arrange to sit down with you for a dedicated planning session if you ask.

You'll pretty much get your table of choice in the Grill but the maitre d' and head waiter won't be all over you, or treat you any differently than other Grill pax, which is just the way it should be. However, I have seen one rather entitled couple of Q1s who were very demanding and their needs were met without fanfare.

There's a range of sample sized ladies and gents fragrances in the bathroom and of course, the hard toilet tissue is instead replaced by a quiver of swan feathers.

If you're on QV the Q1 balcony is absolutely massive (but may not remain so after the refit) whereas the one on QE is wide but not very deep and is a bit of a disappointment in comparison.
