In November 2011 we did a Honolulu to Sydney cruise on the now departed Century. In September 2014 we did a 24 night San Francisco to Sydney (followed by a 12 night South Pacific cruise out of Sydney) again on the Century. In 2016 we did the 18 night Honolulu to Sydney run on the Solstice (followed by the 14 night cruise to Singapore). On all three of those cruises the trans-Pacific crossing was calm, with the exception of about 36 hours in 2016 when the Solstice was crossing through the Tasman Sea.

Our best cruise ever...2014.

Weather was great for our Island trips to Bora Bora and Tahiti. However, our excursion in Tahiti was curtailed owing to torrential rain a few days before.

When we neared New Zealand we had a few grey and blustery days. I am slightly prone to sea sickness but was fine. The pools were closed one afternoon/evening as there was quite a 'swell'.

As we approached Auckland, early morning, on the helipad it was cold and grey but it did brighten up. We did the Hobiton tour and the weather was just like a Spring morning in England, warm in the sun but a little chilly in the shade....

The morning of our bay of Islands tour was fantastic (Hole in the Rock) but as we returned to the ship there were bouts of cloud and showers followed by a bit more sun in the afternoon....

No problems with the weather nearing Australia...A little blowy but not bad. In Sydney we had glorious sunshine!

Although there will be significant differences between cruises from what I had researched before I think ours was fairly typical.

We used light weight rainproof jackets which we did not use as much as we thought we would but were great for our Bay of Isands boat trip and for walking around the deck when we did have a bit of rain but still wanted some fresh air. We found a light weight zip up fleece was ideal for New Zealand and in the evenings on deck throughout the latter part of the cruise. We had also taken those throw away plastic rain covers to use in Bora Bora and Tahiti if needed (we knew our waterproofs would be too warm). Fortunately we didn't need them.

Sincere best wishes for a great cruise!
