Eaglecw Posted June 14, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2017 I’m thinking about doing the 1 day Seattle to Vancouver repositioning cruise on Sept 24th. The tour company that we go with locally has booked cabins for this overnight trip. Does this sound like a very good deal, it includes motor coach transportation from Centralia Washington with stops in Olympia and Tacoma to Pier 91 in Seattle? The motor coach picks up everyone at Canada Place in Vancouver, tours Vancouver, stops for lunch that is included on the way back South to drop off at pick up points. The cost of this trip is $269.00 ppdo for an Ocean view cabin which includes port fees and taxes. Would I get my $50 military OBC and my $50 Stockholder OBC for this trip? I haven’t decided if this is a good deal or worth doing. What are everyone else’s thoughts on this trip?
WALKER1313 Posted June 14, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2017 No shareholder or vets obc for one day cruises. I don't think. Sent from my SCH-S968C using Forums mobile app
WALKER1313 Posted June 14, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 14, 2017 We are doing the one night on the ruby the next weekend. We are paying $194 total for an inside. We will be in seattle for other reasons and we will take a shuttle bus back to Seattle for around $100 total. Thrak Posted June 14, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 14, 2017 (edited) No shareholder or vets obc for one day cruises. I don't think. Sent from my SCH-S968C using Forums mobile app I looked at the forms and don't see any restrictions for one day cruises. Both the military and the shareholder forms simply say "6 days or less" receives $50. The forms do say "some restrictions apply" but the shareholder form has them listed in the fine print at the bottom of the form and don't say anything about the length of the cruise. The military credit form has restrictions on length of service, type of discharge, etc. One could always simply call the referenced phone number and ask... The form for Military OBC has the following restrictions listed: Restrictions • This offer is good for only the first or second berth occupied by the military person. • This offer is combinable with other Onboard Credit offers. • This offer is non-transferable. • This offer cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities. • This offer is combinable with most cruise fares. Some restrictions apply. • Applications to receive this benefit must be made no later than 14 days prior to the cruise departure date. • For any questions regarding this offer contact: from the US/Canada 1-800-Princess or from the UK, 44 (0) 8453 555 800. The restrictions on the Shareholder Request Form are listed as: Restrictions • This offer is good for only one cabin occupied by the shareholder. Only one benefit OBC can be applied to a cabin, even if there are multiple shareholders in the cabin. • This offer can only be applied to bookings under deposit. • This offer cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities. • This offer is combinable with most cruise fares. Some restrictions apply. • This offer is combinable with most onboard credit offers. • This offer is non-transferable. • Applications to receive this benefit must be made no later than 14 days prior to the cruise departure date. Sea Hag Posted June 14, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 14, 2017 Since you're in Washington and it's a complete package, I think it sounds like a fun thing to do at that price.
VibeGuy Posted June 15, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 15, 2017 Shareholder and Loyalty Commend cash are both applied to one-night sailings. I like being onboard so much I've taken a ferry, seven city buses and light rail to get from the Seattle area to Canada Place. That said, this price seems high. I usually get a Balcony for around $80, ports are $35 in this direction, and I can rent a car back to Seattle for no more than $160 (which seats four comfortably). JayRich65 Posted June 15, 2017 #8 Share Posted June 15, 2017 I've already booked an inside guarantee for $147 single occupancy. I will get my shareholder credit. Looking forward to it. Sent from my iPad using Forums
NavyVeteran Posted June 15, 2017 #9 Share Posted June 15, 2017 I sailed on a one day cruise from Seattle to Vancouver on the Star in September 2013. I received $50 Military Benefits and $50 Shareholders Benefits on that cruise. I just checked my onboard folio for that cruise. In addition to the Military and Shareholder OBC, I received $14.30 in refund of Government Fees and Taxes for a total of $114.30. My only expense charged to my onboard account was $11.50 in gratuities. I received a cash refund of the full balance of $102.80 from the Passenger Services Desk onboard (even though OBC was marked nonrefundable). DW received a cash refund of $2.80 for her $14.30 Government Fees and Taxes refund less her $11.50 gratuities. I don't believe there has been any change in the rules for earning OBC, so you would receive the $50 Military and $50 Shareholders. However, I believe they have standardized the rules for refunds, and only the Military OBC would now be refundable (and a Government Fees and Taxes refund if any) - the Shareholder OBC would not be refunded today. Eaglecw Posted June 15, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted June 15, 2017 We haven’t pulled the trigger on this cruise yet. I like the convenience of the bus picking us up close to home and not have to drive to Seattle and deal with parking the car and having the bus standing by outside the terminal when we get into Vancouver to take us back to the car. They’re making it too easy to not go.
LeeW Posted June 16, 2017 #11 Share Posted June 16, 2017 Not only do you get Shareholder and Military OBC, if you are Elite you also get a full minibar setup. If you are NOT Elite, this is a good way to help getting there. Your price sounds high, although it includes a bunch of transfers. We paid about that for a suite, giving us two credits toward Elite. At the time we went they also gave you specialty dining for a suite - might only be on longer cruises now. You can always take Quickshuttle back to the Seattle area. First trip leaves Canada Place at 9. Downside is it takes almost 5 hours to get to the airport, including a couple in Canada, casino/outlet mall north of Seattle and downtown Seattle. Note that for these one day trips they don't load your luggage - it is all carryon. And casino probably will not open. We did this a few years back, stayed a couple of days, and then took a three day trip on a different ship down to LA.
Eaglecw Posted June 16, 2017 Author #12 Share Posted June 16, 2017 I looked at the Quickshuttle back to Sea-Tac airport. I’d have to park at or near Sea-Tac take a cab or Uber to Pier 91. This way the bus drops us off at Pier 91 and picks up at Canada Place gives those on the bus a guided tour of Vancouver, lunch (included) and then back South with the first stop in Tacoma. Pretty darn convenient if you ask me.

For all that is included it sounds like a pretty decent price to avoid the normal hassle of arranging everything yourself.
