Rare albingirl Posted July 16, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 16, 2017 Hi everyone, last time we took a transatlantic, we didn't need a flight at the end. This time we do. Our flight, in Ft. Lauderdale is for one o'clock. Now, I remember customs took a long time last time. Will we be able to make the flight?

Krazy Kruizers Posted July 16, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2017 You shouldn't have any problems. And you are right -- many times it does take quite a while to go through customs -- especially if there are a lot of ships in Ft Lauderdale and they have tp spread the officials thin. Rare albingirl Posted July 16, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted July 16, 2017 thanks very much. I usually don't need flights so this is helpful.
Rare sambamama Posted July 16, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 16, 2017 I went on a TA this past November, and I had Global Entry. It took me right to the front of the lines. Having Global Entry and TSA Precheck has dramatically shortened the time I spend in lines.

Tampa Girl Posted July 16, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 16, 2017 I went on a TA this past November, and I had Global Entry. It took me right to the front of the lines. Having Global Entry and TSA Precheck has dramatically shortened the time I spend in lines. Don't count on Global Entry, however. We returned in November from a TA, and it wasn't open at FLL. But it was nonetheless a quick re-entry.

TAD2005 Posted July 16, 2017 #9 Share Posted July 16, 2017 In Tampa, if you hire a porter with a hand-truck to carry your luggage, they will take you to a porter's only line, which is very short. These porters cannot load your luggage onto their carts and kill 45 minutes waiting in line for you to clear immigration and customs. They would hardly be able to make any money. So they have an expedited line. You should tip them $20 or more depending on the number and size of your bags, but you zip through. That may be the same in Ft. Lauderdale's Port Everglades. take us away Posted July 17, 2017 #10 Share Posted July 17, 2017 You should be just fine. Have cleared customs and immigration by 9:30 from a world cruise. Take a cab to the airport - its faster (minutes away) and easier.

silvercruiser Posted July 17, 2017 #12 Share Posted July 17, 2017 I second the suggestion to use a porter. Sure speeds things up.

g>ravel Posted July 17, 2017 #14 Share Posted July 17, 2017 We came through FLL earlier this year, disembarked and at our gate in the terminal at 8:30, waiting for flight.
