DnA2010 Posted August 10, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2017 Hi All, We are on the Volendam soon and I was just wondering if anyone knows the dress rotation (Ie formal, casual, smart casual etc) Thank you!
57redbird Posted August 10, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2017 There is no Casual in the MDR -- just Smart Casual & Gala & Gala is just a small step up from Smart Casual.
Rare 3rdGenCunarder Posted August 10, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 10, 2017 There is no standard rotation, it depends on your cruise. Gala nights are usually sea days or days when port departure is early. And they're never first or last nights. How many days is your cruise? Rare POA1 Posted August 10, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 10, 2017 If you post your itinerary, people can probably give you a pretty accurate list of nights and dress.
crystalspin Posted August 10, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 10, 2017 Volendam is doing 7-day RT Vancouver, and we did that itinerary last year. I believe that Gala nights were day 1 and day 4 (day 1 is not the first night, that would be day 0). Those days are the ones cruising the Vancouver Island inside passage, and visiting Glacier Bay. Gala is in general pretty casual in Alaska -- our three men wore goofy ties one night and Hawaiian shirts the other! But you are certainly welcome to go as all out as you wish. Krazy Kruizers Posted August 10, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 10, 2017 Gala nights -- in the main dining room and specialty restaurants -- men dress in collared shirts and slacks. Very few men wear a jacket and/or tie. Ladies wear nice slacks or skirts with a nice top or a dress. You will see very few men dressed in suites or a tuxedo or ladies in long gowns. Those days are gone --especially since people have to worry about weight limits on the air lines.
